A decision was clearly made here.
This made me laugh at first, but then it made me pause. I saw the human being behind the decision, the pain and stress, the tired body, the busy mind, comfort, habit, hope gone again.
Struggling to lose weight or to be the best version of you, is not a decision that is won or lost in a supermarket aisle. But shame often is.
It is in these moments when compassion not judgement is needed the most. Despite so much misinformation out there, weight loss is not about motivation.
When we have suffered trauma, or when we are stressed or exhausted or emotionally depleted, the brain doesnât reach for long term goals - it reaches for comfort and familiarity. That isnât weakness or laziness, itâs biology.
As a weight loss coach I see this every day. Sustainable change only happens when the right support and evidence-based tools are in place - tools that work with the brain, not against it. When we address what is happening beneath the surface and replace shame with understanding, behaviour changes naturally. Not through force or motivation but through safety, skill and the right kind of compassionate guidance.
