I have a new teacher! Her name is Willow, she weighs a little over 3 kilos and I'll be sharing everything she is going to teach me with you in October when classes start up again! For now we're figuring out our new routines together. Movement is gentle, breath is deep, prana is everywhere.

We'll be in touch in Dept to let you know when we expect to see you back on the mat with us! 😁

The choice to do an online course for this was more about giving myself the luxury to drag it out over the course of the pregnancy really than anything else, and I'm glad I did! I learned useful things from the training, but also plenty from my own exploration over these past months.

I'm entering month nine in the next few days, which means time is of the essence, but also not at all. It's not like this new adventure of motherhood will stop when pregnancy ends, quite the contrary.

A lot of fears around pregnancy for me were about losing things I had built, not being able or capable. Fears around work and income were particularly stressful at times. But the process has been one of expansion at the same time and I realised that although I may struggle at some point with these topics again, I'm not an island, I'm definitely part of a wonderful village! And that fills me with joy because I know how much the village is looking forward to meeting the little one, and I'm going to get to enjoy that too. Thanks little one. 🙏

I experienced something unexpected during pregnancy - as the belly grows to accommodate a new life, it changes how things work physically, you adapt and morph to accommodate it but it's not making you smaller or taking something away as it expands, you are expanding in new ways with it.

Becoming a mother is a very cool experience so far. Adapting my practice has been equally interesting, and as I start to get curious about postpartum... Because I tend to look forward a lot, I'm also realising the importance of staying rooted in the present in a new way. People often say it all goes too fast when they are little, and I'm sure it will, so, I'm ready to be grateful for it no matter how well she sleeps! 😊💕

Poses that are working well for me at 4.5 months pregnant (half way point time wise!)

1- pretty much all standing postures (with some modifications on parivritta parsvakonasana which generally gets replaced and or heavily modified (twisted side angle). Twisting triangle is still ok.

2-modified versions or additions to classic forward folds - turning them into side stretches + gentle counter twist and a limited forward fold depending on the day. Side bends are generally awesome anyways.

3-headstand, some days pincha or handstand at the wall - because it takes the weight off belly wise - but there's also more weight generally so not staying there too long and some days just not feeling it. Shoulderstand and plough are pretty much off the menu / far too uncomfortable already.

4-camel, thunderbolt, reclining hero, standing backbend or puppy pose all generally feel really nice but have to be careful and mindful not to overdo it with everything being a bit more lax in the pelvis region. I only go if I feel strong / engaged (keeping on at the gym a couple of times a week helps!)

5- occasionally I throw in a wheel on good days but mostly not at this point really!

Things that help - a) blocks for standing forward folds to work more on elongating the backbody without curving into the fold. b) listening, taking a few more days off than I normally would and doing shorter practices and longer warm ups or gentler practice -just because - but also enjoying a full session when feeling it, c) getting in the gym for some (not crazy but fun cardio) + weights d) appreciating the fact that mindfulness allows me to enjoy my practice sometimes even more as I discover new limitations and what works for me during this part of the journey.

Feeling grateful for the practice, the breath, and the mindset of acceptance and openess to change it helps me to continuously cultivate. ✨✨

Every time we come here I love how all the colours and diverse objects mix and match and compliment all the diverse people and shapes in the room!

We are always so well looked after. The perfect vibes for a Yin session and all kinds of creative ways to practice.

This week we did a tuning fork chakra meditation and long hold yin with bowls.

It was awesome!

Lovely to be greeting new faces at the start of this year as well ♥️

Here's to many more colourful yoga brunches in 2026!

Why 'Imperfect' yoga?

Well, because EVEN IF on one day you feel a pose click, like you are in the flow, like everything is perfect, your body and your mind are exactly as you would like them to be, you can be assured that on the next day, it will not be the same. And that is the whole point of yoga actually, to keep coming back to the practice and the present as it is, not as we would like it to be-

The 1st of November 2025 was one of those days for me, where the practice felt really great and everything flowed. At the end, I lay in savasana and felt a prickling sensation in my belly and wondered if the last embryo the IVF clinic we had transferred yesterday was perhaps implanting. I smiled at the thought that I might be connecting to my future baby through a yoga practice, and it was really cool. 'That's a great way to welcome someone into the world', I thought.

It turns out the embryo did stick, and then the rest of the year ended up being very turbulent with multiple burglaries, problems with the baby dad, and I got depressed and anxious. This is not the way l wanted to welcome my baby into existence. 😕

But you know what, every single day is different.

EVEN IF November 1st was a great day on and off the mat, all we can ever do is take each day as it comes. For sure my on-mat practice is changing a lot, and I'm training in prenatal and postnatal yoga now so that I can adapt for me and baby and share that knowledge with other imperfect (yoga) moms 🙂.

Chaturangas and up dogs are starting to be limited, anything belly down or deep twist is off the menu, and I can feel the body softening with the relaxin hormone peaking now. For a more 'hypo' body like mine that's actually a kind of cool experience which will also help me understand other types of students better.

I will be continuing to teach up until the end of May / mid-March although demoing less of some poses!

Imperfect yoga will take pause over the summer, but we'll be back in the autumn. Less retreats this year, but yoga brunches as usual! Swipe to see that start of a baby bump and a foetus doing headstand. 😎😁

A New year begins again in the mountains!
2025 was a great year for Imperfect Yoga - our Paris community well and truly exists now and is solid.
There have been many fabulous yet simple retreats both in France and abroad, and I'm looking forward to welcoming yogis back to class at the regular yoga brunch and evolving as a teacher and a human being.

Happy new year everyone 🎉🎊🌞
