“This was pain free.”

This patient presented after many years of avoiding dental care due to anxiety following previous painful hygiene treatment experiences.

🔎 Clinically, she presented with historical clinical attachment loss and generalised inflammation/hyperplasia. Her initial BPE was Code 3 throughout, with no pocketing > 3.5 mm.
🎯For this first visit, the focus was Step 1 of the S3 guidelines, building rapport, providing education and establishing an oral environment that would allow the patient to carry out effective home care and feel confident when she smiles!

She was understandably very anxious at the start of the appointment. Creating a comfortable, positive experience was therefore just as important as the clinical treatment itself.

Using ACTEON® OPUS®, I used the 1S tip with a combination of SILKY® Supra and Perio powders, adapting the treatment to her needs.

The result?
✅Very little discomfort
✅ No sensitivity experienced during treatment with the Newtron or Silky Pen
✅ She particularly enjoyed the warm water from the Silky Pen
✅ And, most importantly, she left feeling reassured about dental hygiene treatment.

Her words at the end of the appointment: “This was pain free.”

And when asked what advice she would give to anyone who is anxious about attending the dentist, her answer was simple: “Don’t be nervous and there is no need to avoid dental hygiene treatment with this new equipment."
