WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING AT ONCE...
I have been rather quiet with my collective updates lately.
Not because there hasn't been anything to say, but because life has been speaking so loudly that I've barely had time to catch my breath.
Over the past several weeks, I've been navigating some enormous life changes. The closing of my home of 28 years, moving into a completely different way of living, unexpected delays, emotional releases, and the bittersweet experience of saying goodbye to a chapter I once thought would last forever.
And overnight, we said goodbye to a beloved family member who passed peacefully after a long life.
My sweet talented and fun Father in law, Barry (Barrington). The video below is him doing what he loved most with the woman he loved most!
RIP sweet Man!🙏😭
It has been a lot.
And something tells me I'm not the only one.
How many of you are experiencing your own Tower moments right now?
Relationships changing or ending...
Unexpected revelations...
Family dynamics coming to the surface...
Sudden changes in employment, finances, or living situations...
Illness, loss, and difficult goodbyes...
Or perhaps simply the overwhelming realization that the life you once knew no longer fits the person you are becoming.
In Tarot, The Tower represents the sudden disruption of structures we believed were permanent.
Sometimes those structures are physical... a home, a job, a relationship.
Sometimes they are emotional... beliefs, expectations, attachments, or patterns we've carried for decades.
And sometimes the Tower doesn't arrive as one dramatic event.
Sometimes it arrives as a succession of changes, each one asking us to release another piece of what was familiar.
But here's something I want you to remember.
Not every ending is a punishment.
Not every delay is a warning.
Not every unexpected change means something terrible is coming next.
And not every Tower moment requires you to immediately understand its purpose.
Sometimes life is simply changing.
Sometimes people are grieving.
Sometimes circumstances are beyond our control.
And sometimes we are so accustomed to bracing for the next difficult thing that we forget we are allowed to experience joy, relief, and peace in the middle of uncertainty.
That has been one of my own biggest realizations lately.
We do not have to keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.
We do not have to assume that because something wonderful has happened, something painful must follow to balance the scales.
Life is not keeping score.
And perhaps one of the greatest lessons available to us during these periods of profound transition is learning to remain present without trying to predict every outcome.
To grieve what is leaving.
To celebrate what is arriving.
To honour what was.
And to allow ourselves to rest somewhere in between.
If you're experiencing your own Tower moment right now, please be gentle with yourself.
You don't have to find the silver lining today.
You don't have to call every painful experience a blessing.
You don't have to be strong every minute.
And you certainly don't have to have your entire future figured out.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is allow an ending to be an ending... without rushing to fill the space it leaves behind.
I have a feeling many of us are standing at some very significant crossroads in our lives.
And while our experiences may look different, perhaps we can offer one another a little compassion as we navigate them.
So I'd love to hear from you...
Are you experiencing endings, unexpected changes, emotional breakthroughs, or Tower moments of your own?
Or have you recently emerged from a difficult chapter and finally found yourself able to exhale?
Wherever you are in the process, you are welcome here.
With love, Jo-Anne Casselton ❤️
