Life has been BUSY so I have been MIA on here!
Quick update: I spent the last 2 weeks of April down in Orlando working with an athlete.
My Chiro + tennis worlds collided and it was amazing!
On Sunday I’m headed to some of the BEST red clay in the world - Rolland Garros in Paris for the French Open! (🥳)
To all my patients: I will be out of office for a couple of weeks for the Open. My last day in clinic is this Friday (May 19). My return date will be dependant on how my athlete does, but I am booking for June 7 for now.
Spots are LIMITED so please call or reach out asap if you’d like an appointment before I leave! Also, please pre-book for June as it will be BUSY when I get back.
I WILL be checking my emails
(reach out if you have any questions).
Dr. Gilby and Dr. Dean will be helping me out with patient care at the SCAP Centre when I am gone.
Follow along with me for my first trip to PARIS and the Open! 🇫🇷

WALKING & your HEALTH.
🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏾‍♀️🚶🏾🚶🏼‍♂️
A systematic review on the association between daily step count and mortality was published in 2022 by the Journal of Sport Sciences.
They found that: populations with step counts at or above 10,000 steps/ day have a 62% lower risk of ALL causes of death when compared to populations with at or below 2,000 steps/ day.
(I will PAUSE while you read that again).
Walking is: FREE, FUN, AND ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR OVERALL HEALTH.

So - go for a walk today.
Your WHOLE body will thank you for it later.

REACHING for the last bit of summer like…
If you know me, you know how much I LOVE the summer.
BUT, September is actually one of my favourite months.
I was a student for 20 years (🤯🤯), so the first day of school still holds special meaning! For me, it signifies:
🍎Getting back into a solid routine after the craziness summer always brings.
🍏Setting new goals.
🍎Getting to work.
🍏Fall/ Winter sports (yes, we’re already seeing lots of injuries from the beginning of this at the clinics).
🍎Finishing the last fourth of the year off STRONG.
(Oh… and football season - GO BILLS 🔴🔵).
Happy “beginning of the school year” to all the students and teachers out there!
And to my fellow ex-students, happy: “middle-of-the-year, fresh-start, goal- setting” September!
Let’s do our best to crush the end of 2022!

& GOLF SEASON IS BACK!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

(Even though I MAY be jumping the gun a little bit with the weather we saw yesterday ❄️… I’m EXCITED).
Here’s your reminder to take it SLOW as the season starts back up!
Lots of golfers that live through colder winters are NOT putting much torque through their spine, hips and shoulders during those months.
Adding loads to our activity that our body has not experienced for a long period of time can lead to soreness, and even injuries.
Proper warm ups, mobility & strength work can have an immense positive effect on your body as it transitions back to golf.
Need a tune up and some drills to work on before you get back on the course? Shoot me a message or give us a call. I would love to help!

Happy March 1!
March for me, is the SIGN that we’re coming to the END of winter!
More sun, warmer temperatures and more outdoor activities (😍).
Typically with season changes, comes change in people’s activities.
Change is good!…when done the right way.
It is great to challenge our bodies in new ways and vary our activity. HOWEVER. We can’t just have the “JUMP RIGHT IN” mentality.
Sudden increases in training load can play a key role in the development of running-related injuries. We can apply this to the addition of many new loads on the body (aka: jumping, cycling, or other sports we might not complete during winter months).
The origin of many sport-related injuries are mechanical - they are related to the stresses and forces being applied to different parts of the body.
SO - if we are suddenly increasing load/ forces to our body, we are more likely to sustain an injury!
New activities = new loads on our bodies. (Yes, in this case “new” includes something we haven’t done in 8 months).
We can’t just jump back to the speedy 10km runs we were doing last Fall, 3 hours of beach volleyball on a Saturday, or tennis every day if we haven’t been training this way during the winter!
We need to EASE into it, or else we put ourselves at a much higher risk of injury.
Need help getting back into your favourite Spring activities? Shoot me a message!
(This 📷 is from a few weeks back. A 5km 🏃🏼‍♀️ with my friend, and colleague .meganoneill ! We didn’t push the pace. Just got out and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day!)

January 28 is Bell Let’s Talk day 🗯💙💙💙
Mental health is ALWAYS important. But now more than ever.
According to a recent survey done by Mental Heath Research Canada, 22% of surveyed Canadians reported they had been diagnosed with depression & another 20% with anxiety, representing an all time high.
Let’s end the stigma surrounding mental health. 5 ways to help end the stigma around mental illness:
🗯Language matters
🗯Be kind
🗯Educate yourself
🗯Listen & ask
🗯Talk about it
Do something for YOU today. Reach out to a friend, exercise, meditate, journal, be KIND to yourself.
Text HOME to 741741 for Crisis Counselling.
Call 211 if you are in need of mental health support: you will be connected with a psychologist.
It’s ok to not be ok. Reach out. Because even though it may not seem like it, we ARE ALL in this TOGETHER.

▪️Acupuncture
▪️Discussion about rehab exercises
▪️Retest
Have nagging pain that you’re HOPING will just go away? Have any questions about what I can do for you? Shoot me an email or DM. Because living in pain is NO fun.
