Echosens

Echosens Empowering medical professionals to assess, diagnose
and manage chronic liver diseases, everywhere, The examination is non-invasive, fast, and painless.

Echosens™, founded in 2001, is a French high-technology company specialising in non-invasive diagnostics for use in hepatology. Echosens™ is very active in research and development, and currently holds patents from 17 different fields, focusing mainly on its key technology: Vibration-Controlled Transient Elastography (VCTE™). n innovative technology: Vibration-Controlled Transient Elastography (VC

TE)

Echosens™ is the inventor of a highly innovative technology: pulse elastography. This has caused a fundamental change in the clinical practice of hepatologists. Echosens develops and markets the FibroScan®, a unique device for the diagnosis and monitoring of liver disease. With more than 660 publications, FibroScan® with its dedicated probes is the elastography device with by far the most evidence to demonstrate its clinical usefulness. The best-performing range of blood tests on the market

Applying the same philosophy, FibroMeter™ scores combine several biological markers to predict the presence of fibrosis in the liver. This complete range of blood scores, developed by Prof. Calès's team at the Angers teaching hospital in France, has given rise to the publication of many articles in world-class scientific journals, and is covered by a series of patents. Echosens™ devotes a significant proportion of its activity to research, with the aim of developing new medical devices and opening up new medical horizons. The company works in close collaboration with health professionals and patients' associations to facilitate the therapeutic monitoring of patients. To date, more than 2000 FibroScan® units have been installed all over the world. Structure

Preventive care doesn’t start with a test or prescription. It starts with trust.
When clinicians understand their patients’ history, motivations, and goals, conversations about early interventions become more meaningful.

🎥 Dr. Radhika Vayani shares why strong relationships and trust are foundational to effective metabolic care.

We’re proud to share that Echosens has been officially certified ISO 27001 by AFNOR. 🔐

In a time of growing cyber threats, information security is a strategic priority for us now more than ever.

This certification reflects the collective effort across multiple teams — IT, R&D, HR, Procurement, Legal — and the adoption of strengthened security practices throughout the company.

A big thank you to all of our teams for their continued commitment on this achievement. 👏

This milestone is an important step — but not the end of the journey. We will continue to strengthen our security posture, together.

📰 A new clinical article has just been published showing that changes in liver stiffness over the course of a year determine the long-term outcome for the liver.

In MASLD patients, a 1-year LSM reduction measured by FibroScan cuts:
🔸the risk of liver-related events by 47%
🔸 liver decompensation by 57%

➡️ The greater the reduction, the lower the risk, while increases predict progressively worse outcomes.

As new MASLD therapies enter the market, FibroScan is uniquely positioned as the go-to tool to monitor treatment response, guide clinical decisions, and support the design of future drug trials.

Despite its central role in metabolic dysfunction, steatotic liver disease often remains underrecognized—overshadowed by more visible conditions like heart disease and diabetes.

That gap in awareness has real consequences. When the liver isn’t part of broader metabolic health conversations, opportunities for earlier disease detection and prevention are missed. Elevating liver health alongside other metabolic conditions is critical to improving long-term outcomes.

📝 To gain more insight about the shifting metabolic conversation, see primary care physician Dr. Radhika Vayani’s white paper: https://www.echosens.com/wp-vayani/

Liver disease is one of the leading causes of premature death in the UK, yet awareness remains low and many people are diagnosed too late. That's why we're pleased to support the launch of Liver UK – the new name for the charity created when the British Liver Trust and Children's Liver Disease Foundation merged in 2024.

By bringing together support, information, awareness and campaigning under one organisation, Liver UK aims to create a stronger voice for everyone affected by liver disease and liver cancer.

As we look ahead, we are committed to shaping the future of liver health.

Our ambition ➡️ Establish liver health as a gatekeeper for metabolic care.

As metabolic diseases evolve, diagnostics must evolve too.

By redefining liver health as a core indicator, we aim to support clinicians and improve patient outcomes worldwide.

The next 25 years start now.

👉 Together, we’re shaping the future of liver health in metabolic care.

📰 This new study from a diabetology clinic setting offers a clear wake-up call:

🔸Systematic liver screening using FIB-4 and LSM by VCTE® in over 1,000 patients with type 2 diabetes revealed that 1 in 5 had clinically significant liver fibrosis, who were previously undiagnosed and at the rates far exceeding the general population.
🔸MASLD is more severe in this population, making dedicated liver surveillance essential.

➡️ These findings support routine implementation of the EASL-EASD algorithm in diabetology clinics as an effective tool to identify advanced liver disease and refer those patients to specialized care.

Metabolic disease often develops silently, making it difficult for primary care teams to identify which patients need closer evaluation.

For years, clinicians have relied on indirect indicators such as elevated LFTs, follow-up ultrasounds, and clinical judgment to assess liver health.

🎞️ Here, Dr. Radhika Vayani explains how FibroScan® helped bring precision to liver assessment—transforming vague signals into actionable insights that enable clinicians to better understand steatosis and fibrosis, and guide patients to the right level of care at the right time.
