🎥 More than 1500 registrations for key topic shaping the future of liver health!

The response to our webinar "Baveno VIII in Practice" reflected the global interest in the latest recommendations for non-invasive risk stratification in portal hypertension.

Beyond attracting healthcare professionals from over 100 countries, the webinar fostered discussions on the implementation of the Baveno VIII Consensus. Through their expert insights, Prof.Juan Gonzalez Abraldes and Dr.Elton Dajti explored the role of NITs and FibroScan®-based biomarkers in the updated guidelines, while the high level of audience engagement highlighted a clear demand for practical guidance in clinical practice.

🏥 A 16-year-old patient arrived at Dr. Alisha Mavis’ clinic with significant steatosis. At the visit, he seemed completely disengaged. Then he missed his six-month follow-up. When he came back 18 months later, his FibroScan® results told an incredible story.

➡️ What changed?
He said watching older family members struggle with steatotic liver disease and diabetes became a wake-up call. He saw how those conditions affected their health, mobility, and ability to live the lives they wanted and realized he did not want that future for himself. His whole family changed its relationship with food. They cooked differently, ate better, and embarked on a comprehensive healthy journey together.

Cases like this also underscore why longitudinal monitoring matters. Pediatric MASLD is a long disease journey, and documenting how a child’s disease evolves over time can help ensure important information is not lost as they transition into adult care.

👩‍⚕️ One of Dr. Alisha Mavis’ patients was just seven years old.
He wasn’t technically overweight by standard BMI percentiles. His ALT hovered around 45–50 U/L. At first glance, his presentation would not usually trigger urgent concern.

➡️ But his broader metabolic and family history told a different story.

Several family members had liver disease, including one with cirrhosis. Ultimately, the child himself was found to already have cirrhosis from steatotic liver disease. Stories like this are a reminder that pediatric MASLD can sometimes be far more advanced than expected, even in children who do not initially appear “high risk.”
