*Many, many trials I have faced in life. The most difficult of all are those with human beings, because they do not understand. I have loved people, to whom I have given my heart, misunderstanding. But that has never created bitterness in me. If bitterness arises in your heart out of nonunderstanding of others, you will lose your own understanding. Do not let yourself feel hurt when someone misunderstands you. Rather, pay more attention to helping that person. If you can neutralize your feelings toward those who misunderstand you, you will be ever ready to help anyone and everyone. All those who follow this path of Self-Realization [ Yogoda Satsanga ] must hold nothing but goodwill for all.

These partial dissolutions are due to the wrong actions and ignorant errors of man kind. Don't think the happenings of this world are going on automatically without God's knowledge. And don't think that man's actions have no effect on the operation of His cosmic laws.

Everything that has happened throughout the ages is recorded in the ether. The vibrations of evil and mankind leaves in the ether upset the normal harmonious balance of the earth. When the earth becomes very heavy with disease and evil, these ethric disturbances cause the world to give way to earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters.

Let God be first. No matter how late it is, meditate. Last night I didn't sleep until 4:00 a.m. My mind said, "You must go to bed," but I sat and meditated and in a little while the whole room was alive with God's light. That is what I want you to achieve. While you have your body, make the effort for that divine contact. Everything material that you acquire through this body will pass away. Do not wait to realize this until death removes you from this world. Money you cannot take. Health you cannot take. What can you take? The things of the soul.

Give your troubles to God. When you worry, it is your funeral, all arranged by yourself. You don’t want to be buried alive by your anxieties ! Why suffer and die everyday from worry ! No matter what you are going through- poverty, sorrow, ill health- remember that somebody on this earth is suffering hundred times more than you are. Do not consider yourself so unfortunate, for thus you defeat yourself and close out the omnipotent light of God that is ever seeking to help you.

Practicing Detachment

Why cultivate indifference or detachment ? The mind colors the sense objects so they appear attractive. Hence, seekers must color the mind with love for God and cultivate inner transformation. The process can be summed up as follows:

1. Love God in all, so that the sense objects will no longer be binding or alluring.
2. See God in everything, so that sense objects will no longer be the cause of temptation.
3. Offer every sense object to God and then use it for your personal needs; thus it will be prasada.
4. Train your mind to see the beauty of God, not the attractive form of the world.
5. Always use your discrimination to find the distinction between the real and the unreal, the temporary and the permanent.
