Caring for nature -
I have to have plants around me. Well, everyone does. Humans can’t live without plants! 🌳 🪴 🍀
Grateful for the rain that fell the other day, I stepped outside, like I do every morning, to feed our 3 soul sisters (the three beautiful hens). I stepped onto the pine needle-covered earth. Suddenly, I was back in the Swedish summer vacation times of my youth. 🇸🇪 🌦️ 🌲
The smell of that wet earth reminded me of being in Swedish forests. Something I cherished. 🌲 🇸🇪 🌲
Paying attention while you’re walking in nature means your nervous system relaxes and you feel calmer. That’s mindfulness in action. 🧘♀️
Have you noticed that walking in a forest makes you feel calm? 🥰
This time of year means the start of autumn cleanup. I started to cut the brown, dry flower heads off of the Jerusalem Sage plant. It’s a beauty! The dry flowers can be used as decorations and the leaves are actually both nutritious and have medicinal value. Lots of our plants here are edible. 🌿
That doesn’t mean I eat them though!
Cutting these dead flowers makes me sneeze -might be the pollen that I inhale. So I have to take breaks. But luckily we have lots of time for gardening now, as there are not many retreats left in the year. 🤧
The few millimetres of rain that fell made a difference already --the green grass is growing! The ground went from brown to green in just a few days! Yippee!
Do you have gardening plans for this autumn?
Be well, sweet one. Take care of yourself and those you love.
