Did you know that menopause is not just a women's issue – it's a workplace issue?

Menopause affects millions of women, but its impact often extends far beyond the individual.

When someone is struggling with symptoms, it can affect:

🤝 Workplace relationships
💬 Communication
📊 Performance and productivity
🧠 Confidence and wellbeing
👥 Teams and colleagues
🏢 Workplace culture
That's why menopause awareness matters.

Creating menopause-friendly workplaces isn't about giving special treatment.

It's about creating environments where people feel supported, understood, and able to perform at their best.

The most successful organisations recognise that supporting people through different life stages is simply part of good people management.

✔ Employees feel supported
✔ Managers feel more confident
✔ Teams communicate better
✔ Organisations retain valuable experience
✔ Workplace culture becomes more inclusive

Menopause may be experienced by individuals, but understanding it benefits everyone.

💬 Do you think menopause should be discussed more openly in workplaces?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #7 🔹

Did you know that one supportive conversation can make a significant difference to someone experiencing menopause?

Many people navigating menopause don't expect their manager or colleagues to have all the answers.

What they often value most is feeling listened to, understood, and supported.

A simple conversation can help:

💬 Reduce feelings of isolation
💬 Build trust and understanding
💬 Identify practical support needs
💬 Increase confidence to speak openly
💬 Prevent small challenges from becoming bigger problems

The reality is that many people still feel uncomfortable talking about menopause at work.

Some worry they won't be taken seriously.

Some fear being judged.

Others simply don't know how to start the conversation.

Creating a workplace where people feel safe to talk about menopause doesn't require experts in every room.

It starts with curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to listen.
Sometimes the most powerful question is:

"How are you doing, and is there anything that would help?"

💬 What do you think makes a workplace conversation feel supportive?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #6 🔹

Did you know that menopause can affect confidence just as much as physical wellbeing?

Many women describe feeling like they've "lost their confidence" during perimenopause and menopause.

Tasks that once felt straightforward can suddenly seem more challenging.

This isn't because they've become less capable.

Hormonal changes, poor sleep, brain fog, anxiety, and fatigue can all affect how someone feels about themselves and their work.

Some women report:

💭 Questioning their abilities

🗣️ Feeling less confident speaking up in meetings

📉 Doubting decisions they would once have made with ease

😟 Worrying that others will notice mistakes

💼 Considering stepping back from opportunities or leadership roles

A little understanding from colleagues and managers can make a real difference.

Confidence often grows when people feel supported, listened to, and understood.

Menopause doesn't take away years of experience, knowledge, or professional expertise.

Sometimes people simply need reassurance while navigating a significant life transition.

💬 Have you ever heard someone describe menopause as affecting their confidence?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #5 🔹

Did you know that small workplace adjustments can make a significant difference for someone experiencing menopause?

Supporting menopause at work doesn't always require major changes or expensive programmes.

Often, it's the simple things that help most.

Examples might include:

💧 Easy access to drinking water
🌡️ A cooler workspace or desk fan
🕒 Flexibility around start and finish times after a poor night's sleep
🚻 Easy access to washroom facilities
🤝 A supportive conversation with a manager
💻 Flexible or hybrid working where possible
👂 Being listened to without judgement

Everyone's experience is different, so there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

The key is understanding that what seems like a small adjustment can have a big impact on someone's comfort, confidence, and ability to perform at their best.

Support doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes it starts with asking a simple question:

"Is there anything we can do to help?"

💬 What workplace adjustment do you think would make the biggest difference to someone experiencing menopause?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #4 🔹

Did you know that menopause symptoms can last for several years?
Many people think menopause is a short phase that comes and goes quickly.

The reality is often very different.

For many women, symptoms can begin during perimenopause and continue for several years before, during, and after menopause.

Symptoms may include:
🧠 Brain fog
😴 Poor sleep
🔥 Hot flushes
💭 Anxiety
📉 Reduced confidence
⚡ Fatigue

Some days may feel manageable, while others can be much more challenging.

This is one reason why understanding menopause in the workplace is so important.

If someone is struggling with symptoms, it isn't because they lack commitment, capability, or motivation.

Often, they are managing a significant life transition while continuing to work, support families, and meet everyday responsibilities.

A little understanding can go a long way.

The more informed we are, the better equipped we become to support colleagues, friends, family members, and ourselves.

💬 Were you aware that menopause symptoms can last for years rather than months?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #3 🔹

Did you know that women aged 50–64 are one of the fastest-growing groups in the workforce?

Across the UK, more women are working later in life than ever before.

Many of these women are highly experienced, skilled, and often hold key roles within their organisations.

At the same time, this age group is also the most likely to be experiencing perimenopause or menopause.

That's why menopause is increasingly being recognised as a workplace issue.

When organisations understand menopause, they are better able to:
✔ Retain valuable experience and knowledge
✔ Support employee wellbeing
✔ Reduce unnecessary absence
✔ Create inclusive workplace cultures
✔ Help people perform at their best
This isn't about special treatment.

It's about recognising that menopause is a normal stage of life that can affect people differently and ensuring workplaces are informed, understanding, and supportive.

As the workforce changes, workplace conversations need to evolve too.

💬 Do you think enough workplaces are talking about menopause and its impact on employees?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #2 🔹

Did you know that many women say brain fog, fatigue, poor sleep and anxiety can affect work just as much as hot flushes?
When people think about menopause, hot flushes are often the first symptom that comes to mind.

But menopause can affect much more than body temperature.

Many women report experiencing:
🧠 Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
😴 Poor sleep and fatigue
😟 Anxiety and mood changes
💭 Difficulty finding words
📉 Reduced confidence and self-belief
📝 Memory lapses

The experience is different for everyone, and symptoms can vary from day to day.

Imagine trying to lead a meeting, make important decisions, or stay focused after weeks of disrupted sleep.

Understanding menopause means looking beyond the stereotypes and recognising the real impact symptoms can have on everyday working life.

The more we understand, the better we can support one another.

💬 Before today, which of these symptoms did you associate with menopause?

🔹 Menopause at Work: Did You Know? #1 🔹

Did you know that almost 1 in 4 women have considered leaving their job because of menopause symptoms?

Menopause can affect concentration, memory, confidence, sleep, energy levels, and overall wellbeing.

Yet many people continue to manage symptoms while working, often without talking about what they're experiencing.

With women aged 50–64 now one of the fastest-growing groups in the workforce, understanding menopause isn't just a health issue – it's a workplace issue too.

The UK Government, ACAS, and the Equality and Human Rights Commission all encourage employers to consider how menopause may affect employees and what support can be put in place.

The good news?

Support doesn't always require major changes.

Sometimes it starts with:
✔ Understanding
✔ Open conversations
✔ Flexibility
✔ A workplace culture where people feel comfortable asking for
help

The more we understand menopause, the better workplaces become for everyone.

💬 Were you aware that menopause can have such a significant impact on people's working lives?
