Do you ever find yourself shrinking back into a "child mindset" the moment you talk to your parents? shrunk back into that version of yourself that needs permission or validation?

It’s a natural reflex. When we’re young, our parents are our entire world. Their opinions don't just matter—they define our reality. But as an adult, the dynamic has to shift.

It is okay to acknowledge that your parents are just people. They have their own perspectives, but those perspectives no longer have to be the "final word" on your life.

Remember:

You are an adult, and they are an adult.

Their opinion is important, but it isn’t more important than your own.

You have the power to decide how much control you hand over.

Validation can (and should) come from the community you’ve built—friends, partners, and the family you choose.

Your life belongs to you. It’s okay to step out of the "child" role and into your own authority.
