We have had 2 amazing new wild flowers arrive in the meadow. The first is the stunning evening primrose that opens at night and is loved by night feeding insects, it is also used to create the nourishing evening primrose oil. The second is the exquisitely coloured field scabious, the stunning little florets are packed full of nectar so the insects love it. Historically it was also used in the treatment of scabies.

Hamish and I always get so excited when we see the ants taking their nuptial flights it’s incredible to see so many of these amazing creatures taking to the air. After mating the queens chew off their own wing so they can easy go under ground to build a new nest / colony, but what’s more they use the digested wing muscles as nutrients whilst newly underground, nature is just awesome.

The beautiful peacock butterfly for us in highland Perthshire is the first magical spirit (butterfly) to emerge from hibernation, the nettles that herald spring which are a firm family favourite particularly in soup or pesto - are also critical to this most spectacular butterflies life cycle 🦋

We have a few of these paths around the farm, but neither Hamish or I have the heart to reclaim the paths back, as nature is doing such a beautiful job of spreading it magic

Tonight’s tea in a nutshell
Lemon balm - soothing and helps relaxation
German Camomile - helps sleep and digestion
Mugwort - helps dreaming and relaxation (not to be used if you are pregnant) but it is great for menopause.
Dandelion - helps clear toxins
Clover - is amazing partially for us ladies, but it also help reduce inflammation in the lungs so help Hamish hayfever.

The balcony garden designed by Ollie Pike was just so fabulous and shows that small spaces can be created into the most magical of places. Ollie you definitely got our vote.

Well the rain and cold has definitely been a little relentless recently, the Vegetables definitely are not that keen on the current weather, but the Trees love it, making it an excellent time to plant out young sapling. However fingers crossed the sun ☀️ will shine soon.
