The Wújí stance is the still point from which all Qi movement arises: the moment before form, where awareness and breath begin to merge.
When you stand in Wújí, the body aligns so that the lower Dantian, the energetic centre just below the navel, becomes the quiet hub of your breathing.
Each inhale subtly expands this area, gathering Acquired Qi from the breath; each exhale releases tension and lets Innate Qi circulate freely.
This stance teaches the practitioner to feel Qi not as something mystical but as a living rhythm: the pulse between gravity and breath.
In Qi Flow, we work with more than one type of Qi. In traditional Chinese energy theory, Qi is not a single substance but a spectrum of vital forces that animate and sustain life.
Each type of Qi has its own rhythm and purpose, and understanding them deepens your Qi Flow practice.
✨️Ying Qi: the nutritive energy that circulates through the meridians, nourishes organs, and supports cellular repair. It’s cultivated through food, breath, and mindful movement.
✨️Wei Qi: the protective energy that forms a subtle shield around the body, guarding against external influences and temperature changes. It strengthens through balanced breathing and gentle activation of the skin and muscles.
✨️Zong Qi: the chest or ancestral energy, combining breath and heartbeat. It fuels voice, vitality, and emotional expression, linking respiration to intention.
✨️Jing Qi: the essence stored in the kidneys, representing your deep reserves of vitality and longevity. It’s replenished through rest, meditation, and stillness practices like Wújí.
✨️Yuan Qi: the original Qi, inherited at birth, that underlies all other forms. It’s the spark that animates life and connects you to the universal field.
In Qi Flow, these energies interact dynamically: Wújí stance awakens Yuan Qi and Jing Qi at the root, breath cultivates Zong Qi in the chest, movement circulates Ying Qi through the limbs, and awareness expands Wei Qi outward.
Together, they create a living harmony between stillness and motion: the essence of your practice.
Wújí is the gateway where these energies, all harmonising through posture and intention.
