Yesterday, we held an open day at Champ Funeral Services, and we are pleased to say that it was a very successful event.

We were overwhelmed by the number of people who attended to speak with us about their funeral wishes, ask questions, and learn more about the services we provide. It was encouraging to see so many members of the community taking the time to have open and honest conversations about funeral planning.

In this day and age, with so much media attention surrounding the funeral profession, we believe it is more important than ever to be open and transparent. Our aim was to welcome people and help them understand our way of working, and show the care, professionalism, and respect that goes into everything we do.

The day provided a valuable opportunity for people to meet our team, see our facilities, and gain a clearer understanding of the support available when planning a funeral. We hope that those who attended found the event helpful, reassuring, and informative.

On behalf of all the team at Champ Funeral Services, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to come in and support our open day. We truly appreciate your interest, your questions, and the trust you placed in us by speaking so openly about your funeral wishes.

Something a little different today.

We want to share why we decided to open our doors like this.
Over the years, We have sat with hundreds of families at the most difficult time of their lives. And one of the things we see again and again is the extra pain that comes from not being prepared. Not just practical pain — though the practical pressure is real — but the emotional weight of making enormous decisions for someone you love, not knowing what they wanted, and not having the headspace to even think clearly.

Planning ahead doesn’t take the grief away. But it removes that specific, avoidable pain. And that matters.

So Wednesday 3rd June isn’t a sales event. It’s just us, with the door open, ready to have whatever conversation you’ve been putting off having. Even if all you come in for is the cake.

One week today, our doors are open.

In over 40 years of doing this work, the question we have been asked more than almost any other is:

“Why didn’t we talk about this sooner?”

It comes up after a death, when families are making decisions in grief, in shock, sometimes in debt, without any idea of what their loved one would have wanted.

It comes up when people finally sit down and sort things out for themselves and realise how straightforward it actually was.

The conversation isn’t morbid. It’s the opposite. It’s one of the kindest things you can do for the people you love.

Come and have it with us on Wednesday 3rd June. Bring your questions. Bring a family member if you’d like to.

Can I tell you something I hear a lot?

“I keep meaning to sort it out but I don’t know where to start.”

Sometimes it’s someone in their 50s who has watched a parent go through a difficult time after a death and promised themselves they’d do it differently. Sometimes it’s someone in their 30s who just wants to make sure their family never has to make those decisions in a state of grief.

Both are right. Both are brave. And neither of them should have to navigate it alone.

That’s exactly what our Open Afternoon on Wednesday 3rd June is for. Come in at any point between 1pm and 4pm.
