One of the most surprising symptoms women tell me about is:
"I don't like driving at night anymore."
Many describe increased glare from headlights, difficulty judging distance and a noticeable drop in confidence behind the wheel.
It's easy to dismiss this as ageing.
But hormonal changes may also play a role.
Oestrogen receptors are found throughout the eye and declining hormones can affect tear production, eye comfort and visual function.
At the same time, many women are experiencing:
• Brain fog
• Fatigue
• Poor sleep
• Increased stress
All of which make the brain work harder to process information, especially in challenging conditions like night driving.
This doesn't mean every visual change is menopause.
But it does mean your eyes, brain and hormones may be more connected than you realise.
💜 Have you noticed driving at night feels different now than it did 10 years ago?
