There are multiple reasons why our surgeries can overrun. Sometimes our doctors need more time with a previous patient — especially when dealing with unexpected or sensitive issues. This can mean your appointment starts later than planned.

To try to keep to time, if you have multiple problems, sometimes we will ask you to book another appointment if it is clear we can't deal with an additional problem(s) in the time available. We do allow double appointments to be booked if you think more time is needed.

However, one avoidable cause of surgeries overrunning is patients arriving late for their appointments. If you are late for your appointment you have actually missed that appointment. If we have time we will still try to help you but you may be asked to re-book if it will cause the surgery to overrun for the patients coming after you. We’re grateful for your patience and kindness when this happens.

There appears to be issues with our phone lines this morning - we can hear you but sometimes you can't hear us. Hopefully this issue should be sorted quickly, but it appear to be a network issue that's out of our direct control.

This month's display board is full of information about staying safe this summer, including if you get bitten. We're often consulted about insect bites and in most cases they won't need any treatment. It won't have escaped your attention that it's currently hot and sunny. UV rays do damage the skin and it's very important not to get burnt. You should use at least factor 30 sunscreen when outside. Sunscreen does have a shelf life - in most cases only 2-3 years and less if the bottle has been opened. There shoudl be a use by date on teh bottle. If it is out of date it may not work.

With the rising temperatures at the end oft his week the pollen count will also start to go up. if you are suffering from hay Fever symptoms nearly all of the common pharmaceutical remedies are available, without prescription, from a pharmacy.
