Just a plea to cancel your appointment if you're no-longer able to make it. Last month 76 appointments were lost which could have been given to other patients.

This month's notice board at the surgery focusses on the correct use of medication, specifically about the use by dates of medication. Out of date medication might not work very well or at all and should be returned to the pharmacy (not disposed of in domestic waste or with ourselves).

Just a reminder to complete the bowel cancer screening test if you are sent one by the screening service. A significant minority of patients don't return the kit. It only takes a minute to do and it might save your life. The test is sent to everyone aged between 50 and 74 years old every two years. As you may have heard in the news the NHS is offering vaccination against Meningococcus B infection for groups of children and young adults this summer. The vaccinations will be at participating pharmacies. The eligibility criteria are a little complicated but if you think you might be eligible and would like the vaccination you can check and book the vaccination here:

There are multiple reasons why our surgeries can overrun. Sometimes our doctors need more time with a previous patient — especially when dealing with unexpected or sensitive issues. This can mean your appointment starts later than planned.

To try to keep to time, if you have multiple problems, sometimes we will ask you to book another appointment if it is clear we can't deal with an additional problem(s) in the time available. We do allow double appointments to be booked if you think more time is needed.

However, one avoidable cause of surgeries overrunning is patients arriving late for their appointments. If you are late for your appointment you have actually missed that appointment. If we have time we will still try to help you but you may be asked to re-book if it will cause the surgery to overrun for the patients coming after you. We’re grateful for your patience and kindness when this happens.
