Celebrating National Picnic Day in Style! đŸ§º

Our Regional Lifestyle Support Manager, Simi, recently brought together the care homes she supports for a wonderful regional picnic to celebrate National Picnic Day.

Residents, staff, and family members from Allingham House, Manorhey, Bowerfield Court, Bowerfield House, Cavendish Court, Hope Green, The Belvedere, and Carmel Lodge all gathered at Tatton Park for a fantastic day of fun, friendship, and fresh air.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by the beautiful parkland before taking a leisurely stroll in the glorious sunshine. It was a wonderful opportunity for residents from different homes to socialise, make new connections, and create special memories together.

A huge thank you to Simi for organising such a successful event and to everyone who attended and helped make the day so enjoyable. Days like these highlight the importance of community, companionship, and making the most of every opportunity to enjoy life outdoors.

This month’s Myley trip was to the AVRO Museum in Woodford. Our residents enjoyed seeing aircraft memorabilia, model aircraft including the Roe 1 Biplane, and the flight deck of the Avro 748. They also tried a virtual reality experience inside a Lancaster bomber over Berlin, which brought back memories for some and was moving for others. We ended the visit by viewing the Vulcan aircraft outside, including its fuselage and bomb storage area. AVRO was a fantastic place to visit, and everyone had lots of fun.

Last week we celebrated St Patrick's Day with a Guinness tasting trolley before the residents enjoyed some delicious Irish stew and Guinness chocolate cake.

Our residents got stuck in and wore leprechaun hats and listened to some traditional Irish music. We had lots of fun.

Last week, a couple of our residents had a lovely afternoon trip to Wilmslow Garden Centre. We had a look around at all the various ornaments and plants, taking time to have a good look at all the colourful fish in the aquarium. One of our residents showed off their vast knowledge of fish and the various species at the garden centre, explaining how to care for the fish from habitat to food, it was very interesting and enlightening. We looked at the gorgeous fire pits which the residents loved as one of them used to work as a craftsman hammering metal.

We finished off with a cup of coffee in the cafe before returning to Cavendish Court.

Getting the residents hand- eye coordination going was fun this afternoon with a competitive game of ring toss. We had a leader board which started out well but one resident in particular smashed it out the park and got 6 hoops on 6 cones consecutively! WOW! Well done to them!

Cavendish Court wishes everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for 2026!

We had a very busy Christmas period filled with fun, games and laughter. Our residents had an amazing time with the talented Katy Allen who delighted us with some festive tunes at our Christmas party, we are so pleased to have her back, she sounds better than ever! Some sweet treats were enjoyed throughout the home and we have had smiles all round.

Dust off those 2025 cobwebs and bring on 2026! We have some exciting trips out planned, activities to enjoy and as the weather hopefully picks up, we can get outside and plan our spring patio.
