But honestly...
Don't do it.

You might accidentally end up with a career full of purpose, laughter, proud moments, and the occasional lost goggle.
And nobody wants that. 😉🏊

🚫 Don't be a swimming teacher. 🚫

Honestly, it's not worth the risk.

Why would you want a job where people are genuinely pleased to see you?

Why would you want to spend your days helping someone achieve something they never thought possible?

Why would you want to witness nervous faces turn into confident smiles?

And why on earth would you want a career where your biggest challenge is pretending you're not ridiculously proud when someone finally floats on their own?

It sounds exhausting.

Then there are the other side effects...
💦 You'll never quite get rid of the chlorine smell.
👏 You'll clap for things most people wouldn't even notice.
😁 You'll find yourself smiling at work far more than is probably acceptable.
🏊 You'll become strangely passionate about bubbles, floats and kicking legs.
❤️ You'll accidentally make a difference to people's lives.
No thank you.
So don't be a swimming teacher.
Don't call us.
Don't ask how to get qualified.
And definitely don't speak to any of our tutors. They're far too enthusiastic and could convince you that helping people gain confidence and learn a life skill is one of the best jobs in the world.
You've been warned.

Four years ago, this wasn't even a possibility.

Today, a swimmer who is fully ventilated, has a tracheostomy, and is a tetraplegia (quadriplegia ) was not only swimming but "walking" in the water with support. ❤️
I can't put into words how proud I am to be part of this.
The hours, the determination, the teamwork, and the belief that this could be done have all led to moments like this.

A huge thank you to NHS Nottinghamshire, the ventilation team, nurses, physiotherapists, the incredible school staff, and The amazing Swim Lead who never stopped pushing for these opportunities.

What a pleasure to be there and witness that moment as well , what an incredible honour - Happy tears of pride !

This is why we do what we do. Breaking barriers. Changing lives. Making the impossible possible. 💙🏊

This not only is an incredible moment but a PROUD tutor moment as the Swim Lead was a candidate on my STA level 2 Disability Course , Safety Award and has come so so far ! Truly in awe of her and her work

📣 A huge shout-out to our friends at Swimdays!

We're delighted to announce that they have asked us to deliver a PRIVATE STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming to People with Disabilities course for their team – and of course, we jumped at the opportunity! 🌟

This is such a rewarding and impactful qualification within our industry. The knowledge, confidence, and practical skills gained can make a real difference, helping teachers create inclusive swimming opportunities and support swimmers of all abilities to achieve their full potential. 🏊‍♀️💙

To ensure complete impartiality and transparency throughout the process, we've welcomed Hannah on board to undertake the face-to-face IQA for the course. We're grateful for her support and expertise in helping us maintain the highest quality standards.

And that's not all! We're also excited to have agreed to deliver the STA Safety Award for Teachers with the Swimdays team later this summer. ☀️

It's fantastic to be working with an organisation so committed to investing in its team, developing professional skills, and providing the very best experience for its swimmers.

England are playing tonight, which means there may be a few tired heads in the morning!

To give everyone a chance to recover from what we're hoping will be a memorable evening, the office will be opening a little later than usual tomorrow and we'll be up and running by mid-morning.

Thank you for your understanding, and come on England! 🏆⚽

Partnerships loading... 🤝

Thank you for remembering us and for sharing the great work we do.

Even though I put you through your paces on your original National Pool Lifeguard Qualification 2021 ongoing training, and First Aid courses, apparently that still wasn't enough for "Liz"! 😄

So, we're continuing to develop and strengthen partnerships with our uniformed services and community partners, creating even more opportunities to work together, share expertise, and support the communities we all serve.

Exciting conversations, shared values, and some fantastic collaborative opportunities ahead. Watch this space...

Today was about one thing: listening.

This morning, we joined NHS Health, Derbyshire County Council, Social Prescribers, and Community Groups for Quality Conversations – Core Skills, learning how to actively listen and create meaningful conversations.

This afternoon, we attended Su***de Awareness and Mental Health Conversations training alongside schools, chaplaincy services, Mind, and local government services.

Why?

Because behind every candidate is a person. Behind every conversation is a story.

As a proud Mental Health Friendly Club through Active Partnerships, we know our role goes beyond delivering regulated training. We want to learn, grow, and better support our candidates and community by listening, understanding, and working together.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer is not an answer — it's being prepared to listen.
