Think you’ve got the nerve to investigate one of Britain’s most haunted castles after dark?

On 25th September, step inside Chillingham Castle for an evening of ghost hunting through centuries-old rooms, darkened corridors and some of the castle’s most notorious paranormal hotspots.

This is a place with stories attached to almost every corner.

Listen for unexplained voices reported around the Chapel. Watch for the mysterious White Pantry Ghost. Explore the rooms and passageways where visitors have reported footsteps, apparitions and strange activity for generations.

And then experience Chillingham when the doors are closed, the crowds have gone and the castle falls silent.

Holy Island after the crowds have gone has a completely different feel.

On Monday 21 September, 6pm, join HospiceCare North Northumberland and Northern Adventures for a guided evening hike across Lindisfarne, exploring one of Northumberland’s most remarkable landscapes as daylight begins to fade.

Over 5–6 miles, you’ll uncover the island’s Viking history, local stories and legends before watching the sun set across the coast, with the possibility of stargazing as darkness falls.

Your £15 ticket includes:

• Expert guidance and historical commentary from Northern Adventures
• Refreshments along the route
• Certificate of completion
• A post-walk canapé and drink

We’re also encouraging each walker to raise £50 in sponsorship. Every pound raised will help HospiceCare North Northumberland continue providing care and support to people and families across our local communities.

The route is moderate and mostly flat, and dogs are welcome on leads.

We’ve been working on something behind the scenes, and we’re delighted to finally share it.

Our dementia support is coming to Morpeth!

From Wednesday 23 September, we’ll be opening a new A R**t Canny Cuppa dementia café at Morpeth Methodist Church, made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery.

It’s a friendly, welcoming café for people living with dementia or cognitive impairment, along with their families and carers. A place to meet others, enjoy a cuppa, take part in activities and access support from our team when needed.

The new Morpeth café builds on the support we already provide through our cafés in Alnwick and Berwick, helping us reach even more people across Northumberland.

We posted yesterday and wanted to update you with the fantastic news that the total raised stands now at an incredible £10,515 with 300 supporters!

This means the Sea-ñoritas have now raised more than 700% of their original fundraising target for HospiceCare North Northumberland, and we simply want to say a huge thank you.

To have raised more than £10,000 from one remarkable challenge is an amazing show of support, and every pound will help us continue providing care and support to people and families across North Northumberland.

A huge thank you to Claire Watson-Armstrong, Jill Henderson and Karen Gallichan, our incredible Sea-ñoritas, who took on a remarkable challenge for HospiceCare North Northumberland on Monday.

Setting off from Inner Farne, the trio swam around 2km across the Inner Sound to the Northumberland mainland, taking on the cold North Sea and strong tidal currents without wetsuits.

The swim was made even more meaningful as Claire, Jill and Karen completed the crossing discreetly topless in recognition of everyone affected by breast cancer, and especially in memory of Claire’s mum, Linda Thorburn, who sadly died from breast cancer last year.

Our Hospice at Home team had the privilege of supporting Linda and her family during her illness, making this an incredibly special challenge for everyone involved.

Claire, Jill and Karen, thank you for doing something so extraordinary to support our charity and for helping us continue to provide care to people and families across North Northumberland.

And thank you to everyone who has donated, shared their story or supported them along the way.

Our Alnwick Bereavement Café is open today from 10am to 11.30am.

If you have experienced a bereavement and would value some company, conversation or simply a cuppa in a relaxed and supportive setting, you are very welcome to join us.

It is a drop-in café, so there is no need to book or make an appointment. Just come along. Our cafés offer a safe, informal space to meet others who have experienced bereavement and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

See Holy Island in a completely different way this September.

Join HospiceCare North Northumberland and Northern Adventures on Monday 21 September for a guided evening hike across Lindisfarne, combining incredible scenery, local history and fundraising for local hospice care.

Covering around 5-6 miles, you’ll explore the stories, legends and Viking history of Holy Island before taking in the evening sunset, with the chance for some stargazing afterwards.

Tickets are £15 per person and include:

• Expert guidance and historical commentary from Northern Adventures
• Refreshments along the route
• Certificate of completion
• A post-walk canapé and drink

Walkers are encouraged to raise £50 in sponsorship, with every pound helping HospiceCare North Northumberland continue providing care and support across our local communities.

The route is moderate and mostly flat, and dogs are welcome on leads.
