We’re incredibly lucky to have such a friendly and supportive community across Altrincham and the surrounding area, with so many businesses and services committed to helping older adults.

Our Business Development Manager, Sian, spends lots of time out and about building connections and seeing first-hand the difference they make to those around them.

One of those is Pelican Pharmacy in Timperley, owned by Kiruba.

Together with their fantastic team, including Lily, Rahul and Janah, they make healthcare accessible right on the doorstep, offering NHS Pharmacy First, blood pressure checks, vaccinations, women’s health support and everyday health and medication advice.

What really stands out is the way they go above and beyond. Whether it’s taking the time to listen, offering confidential advice, helping someone understand their medicines or making sure they know where to turn for the right care, there’s a real sense of personal support.

And, of course, they do it all while being friendly, welcoming and full of smiles! 😊

It’s so lovely to see how much Pelican Pharmacy genuinely cares about the people it serves.

For Kay, an evening care visit is about much more than practical support.

After nearly two years together, Kay and Care Professional Tracey have built a wonderful relationship. There’s help with the little things that become more difficult towards the end of the day, support with her evening routine, and, just as importantly, time for a good chat and the occasional crossword!

Kay has always valued her independence, and having a little extra support means she can continue living in the home she loves, with greater confidence and peace of mind.

As Kay says herself, “If you’re living on your own, it can make a great difference.”

Accessible Swim at Move Altrincham

Looking for a relaxed and supportive way to enjoy swimming?

Every Wednesday at 10.30am, Trafford Leisure hosts a specially organised Accessible Swim at Move Altrincham, designed to make swimming more comfortable and enjoyable for people living with dementia, additional needs or SEND, alongside their carers.

The session offers:

🌊 The chance to swim at your own pace
💙 A welcoming and inclusive environment
🏊‍♀️ Access to a pool lift for additional support
🤝 A relaxed session for individuals and their carers

Whether you’re a confident swimmer or simply enjoy spending time in the water, this is a lovely opportunity to get active in a supportive setting.
