Welcome, and thank you for being here. We are truly grateful that you’ve joined us and are helping us build something so meaningful in Freddie’s name.

Fred’s Place was created in memory of our beautiful son, Freddie Mitchell, who died on 12th July 2026 at just 33 years old.

This page is about love, remembrance, and purpose. It is about building a lasting legacy for Fred — one that helps others who are walking similar paths, and supports the families who love them.

Freddie lived with ADHD and faced challenges with his mental health and substance misuse, but those struggles never defined who he was. He was kind, funny, deeply loved, and missed beyond words.

Our vision is to create a charity that supports young men living with ADHD, mental health challenges and substance misuse, while also offering support to their families. We are only at the beginning of this journey, but we are determined to make Fred’s Place something that truly makes a difference.

🧡Welcome to our GoFundMe for Fred’s Place 🧡

On 12th July 2026, our lives changed forever.

Our beautiful son, Freddie Mitchell (9th May 1993 – 12th July 2026), died suddenly at just 33 years of age.

Freddie was so much more than the challenges he faced. He was funny, kind, generous, stubborn, loved the countryside, tractors, music and, most of all, the people in his life. He was deeply loved, and he always will be.

Freddie also lived with ADHD and, like far too many adults, experienced emotional overwhelm, poor mental health and periods of alcohol and substance misuse. Looking back, we believe there were still unanswered questions about the support he needed, but we ran out of time.

Since losing Freddie, we have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have quietly shared similar stories. Stories of sons, brothers, partners and friends who are struggling to access assessments, reassessments and the right support.

We realised Freddie’s story isn’t unique.

That is why we want to create Fred’s Place.

Our dream is to establish a charity that raises awareness of ADHD, men’s mental health and substance misuse, while helping people find the information, support and services they need before families reach crisis point.

This GoFundMe is the very beginning of that journey.

The funds raised will help us cover the costs of creating Fred’s Place, including the legal and administrative work involved in setting up the organisation properly, applying for charitable status and building strong foundations so we can make a lasting difference.

Thanks to your incredible kindness, we reached our initial £5,000 target in just 11 days. We are truly humbled.

But we are still at the start of this journey. The funds have not yet been released, and there is still a great deal of work ahead before Fred’s Place becomes a reality.

For over 20 years you’ve known me as Caroline – The Original Dragon Lady.

Together we’ve explored healing, spirituality, dragons, meditation, personal growth and finding light in the darkest of times. It has been an incredible journey, and I am deeply grateful for every single person who has walked that path with me.

But on 12th July 2026, my world changed forever.

Our beautiful son, Freddie Mitchell, died suddenly at just 33 years old.

Freddie lived with ADHD. Like so many adults, he also struggled with emotional overwhelm and periods of alcohol and substance misuse. Beneath his infectious smile, wicked sense of humour and larger-than-life personality, he was fighting battles that too many people never truly saw or understood.

As a family, we are heartbroken.

After much soul-searching, I have made the difficult decision to close my business. Right now, I simply cannot return to life as it was before. Instead, I feel called to dedicate my time, energy and heart to creating Freddie’s Legacy.

That legacy begins with Fred’s Place.

Initially, Fred’s Place will focus on raising awareness of ADHD, mental health and substance misuse, opening conversations that are too often hidden behind shame and silence. We want to support individuals and families who are struggling, helping them feel seen, heard and understood before they reach crisis point.

Our dream is for Fred’s Place to grow into a registered charity—a place of hope, compassion and practical support. A place where people can find somewhere to turn, somewhere to breathe and somewhere to know they are not alone.

To make Freddie’s Legacy a reality, we first need to raise £5,000 to establish the charity and put the legal and financial foundations in place.

I am retiring from work and closing my business.

What do I say, other than we are utterly heartbroken.
This year has already been a lot, but this is just too much!

Freddie Mitchell you could be a total dick, but you were my dick for 33yrs.

I always joked that you had managed to make through another year, until you didn’t.

You made some questionable life choices, yet you sailed through life on the outside smiling and laughing and for that we all loved you so much.
You’ll never know how much you were loved by us, the family and your dearest friends.

RIP my beautiful boy.

1. Nine of cups
This is a card of celebration, a feeling that all right in your world. If you chose this card, it is time to have a bit of reflect on how far you have come, and what you’ve accomplished and achieved in your lifetime. And, give yourself a pat on the back. Enjoy the rewards of your work, you’ve earned it. Often with card it can represent weddings and happy social get togethers, a time to celebrate with good friends, family.

2. Four of Swords
If you chose the four, you are being urged to take a breath and realign with your life.
You organise your life schedule, not your life being frog marched through life, due to your schedule. The four of swords is a card of warning, keep going at the same pace and you’ll hit a wall of overwhelm, exhaustion and or burnout. As all the swords are they are ruled by the mental realm, and the element of air. With this card appearing, it’s a bit of dragon slap in many ways. Get out of your head, do something like, walking, yoga, Pilates, painting, dancing, gardening, anything to bring you back into your body; it’s asking for a reset, and a chance to catch up with your racing mind. If you are stressed to the gunnels, worried or think you may be heading for depression, it’s time to seek professional support.

3. Three of cups
Last time I did these, the theme appeared to be around finances, this time it appears to be around emotions. Cups represent the sign of water and the emotions.
Three of cups, it feels today, like it’s all in the energy of creation; what are you wanting to create or birth into the world? This can be spiritual or physical, even the birth of a child. Like the Nine before it the Three has a feel good theme to it. Life is good, happy and worth celebrating. Projects and working in collaboration with others feels good, with comradery and mutual understanding and respect that can only come from open honest relationships, whether romantic, working or social circles.
