Leicester's summer has been non-stop. Carnival, Abbey Park, food and music festivals, the county show still to come. Loads of it is loud, and most of us never think twice about our hearing until something feels off.

Meet Lynne, our founder and lead audiologist at Charnwood Hearing Centre.

Lynne's career began in 1986 at York Hospital's Audiology Department. Since then she's trained at Leeds College of Technology, the School of Audiology in Middlesbrough, and University College London, where she gained a Master's Degree in Technical Audiology.

She spent 25 years with the NHS, including as Clinical Lead for Paediatric Audiology across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, before opening Charnwood Hearing Aid Centre in 2011.

Lynne still lectures and examines audiology students today, including at De Montfort University.

For Lynne, hearing care has always been about more than technology. It's about connection, confidence and quality of life, and that's what she brings to every appointment.

Fun fact: she's been a McLaren F1 fan for even longer than she's been an audiologist.

A few of you read last week's blog on why we only do microsuction and asked the obvious next question: right, so how do I actually get booked in?

Nice and simple. You book straight in with us, no referral needed. There is a free car park at The Nook a few yards from the door, we are easy to reach just off the A46, and we can usually see you the same week rather than leaving you waiting.

Our team will take a proper look, talk you through what she can see, and clear it there and then if it needs doing.

Abbey Park is buzzing tonight and the county is deep into festival season. Brilliant. Your ears would just quite like a word.

That ringing you sometimes hear the morning after a loud night is your ears telling you they took a battering. Do it often enough and some of that damage sticks around for good. A decent pair of ear plugs sorts it, and no, they do not muffle the music. Proper filtered plugs simply turn the volume down a notch while keeping everything clear.

We can make custom moulded ones that fit you perfectly. Worth it if live music is your thing. Pop in and ask.

Ear wax removal is not one-size-fits-all, and that is exactly why we offer more than one method.

Microsuction is usually our first choice. It is a gentle vacuum that lifts the wax out while our experts watches the whole thing on screen.

For some ears, controlled-pressure irrigation is the better fit, a modern, carefully monitored method that is a world away from old-style syringing at home or with a GP kit.

Both are safe, both are done properly, and we will always recommend whichever suits your ears best rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
