The last day of August and the last day of 9 weeks long summer holidays for us! Back to school tomorrow 🎉
I wrote this poem in reflection this morning.
I hope you enjoy
Shal x
The sun hangs low in purple skies,
As August breathes its last surprise.
A lingering heat, a sudden chill,
A moment to stop; breathe and be still.
As I count those days of sun and gold,
And my stories that this season told
The beautiful moon, sunsets and sunrise
Brought colours of joy before my eyes.
Yet summer wasn't joy alone;
It tested me - blood and bone.
There were difficult, hard and breathless days,
When I felt lost within the haze.
When grief and grit weighed down my mind,
And peace was so hard to find.
But now the shadows start to lean,
As the brown appears on the leaves of green.
The calendar turns another page,
To quiet wisdom, earned and sage.
I blow out the candle, let the summer depart,
With scars on my spirit but hope in my heart.
I welcome you in dear September.
Please be kind to me.
