Lynn and the family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended John's funeral, and for all the beautiful flowers, cards, kind messages and words of support they have received. This has meant so much to the family at such a difficult time.

They would also like to thank Parkgrove Funeral Directors for the care and support shown to John and the family throughout, and a special thank you to Val Mowatt, who conducted John's service with such warmth, making it a truly personal and fitting tribute to his life.

A wonderful Β£1,020 was raised in John's memory, which will be donated to Macmillan Nurses and Maggie's Centre. The family are incredibly grateful to everyone who so generously contributed.

PARKGROVE: PROUD PARTNERS FOR THE SEASON….AND BEYOND!

Montrose FC is delighted to welcome Parkgrove Funeral Directors as a new club partner this summer, further strengthening their commitment to football across Angus.

As part of this partnership, Parkgrove will sponsor both our Men’s Matchday Away Travel and our Women’s Matchday Warm-Up Kit for the 2026/27 season. Their support will play a valuable role in ensuring our men’s squad travels safely and professionally throughout the campaign, while also backing the continued growth, visibility and professionalism of our women’s team in SWPL 1.

Parkgrove Crematorium has spent more than three decades providing a peaceful place of remembrance and compassionate support for families across Angus. Two years ago, Parkgrove Funeral Directors was created to provide a single dedicated team to guide and support families through their most difficult moments.

Club Chairman Peter Stuart said: β€œWe’re very pleased to have Parkgrove Funeral Directors join us as a new partner. Their support for both our men’s and women’s teams reflects our shared values around community, inclusion and progress. We look forward to building a strong relationship with them in the months ahead.”

Parkgrove, who already proudly support several other football clubs across Angus, expressed their enthusiasm at expanding that commitment to Montrose FC, with Funeral Director Chris Simpson adding, β€œWe’re delighted to add Montrose FC to the list of clubs we support across the county. Football plays a huge role in bringing communities together, and we’re proud to contribute to that. Partnering with both the men’s and women’s teams at Montrose felt like a natural next step for us, and we’re excited to support the club in the season ahead.”

Montrose FC extends its thanks to Parkgrove for their generosity and community spirit. We are proud to have them on board as preparations continue for another competitive and exciting campaign.

Music can be one of the most personal parts of a funeral service.

Some songs are requested time and time again, from Frank Sinatra’s My Way and Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World, to Scottish favourites such as Highland Cathedral and Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?

But the right choice does not have to be a traditional funeral song. Often, the most fitting piece of music is simply the one that immediately makes you think of that person.

We’ve put together a new article looking at some of the most requested funeral songs, along with a few ideas to help if you are unsure what to choose.

Finding the right words after someone has died is not always easy.

You may worry about saying the wrong thing, upsetting the person or not knowing how to help. Often, the simplest words are enough. A genuine message, a shared memory or a small practical gesture can mean a great deal.

Our latest guide looks at what you might say in person, in a card or by text, along with phrases that may be best avoided.

It also explains why actions often speak louder than words. Making a pot of soup, dropping off an easy meal, walking the dog or helping with the school run can offer real support when someone may not feel able to ask.
