Your babymoon doesn't need luxury hotels or expensive flights.

The most meaningful moments are often the simplest.

Before baby arrives, make time to connect with each other.

Those conversations and memories will stay with you long after the baby clothes have been packed away.

Sometimes the most nourishing break isn't found on a plane.

It's found in your own home.

Whether you're pregnant or adjusting to life with a newborn, a staycation can provide something many parents desperately need: permission to slow down.

No schedules.

No pressure.

No expectations.

Just rest, connection, and recovery.

Tell us in the comments: What's your idea of the perfect staycation?

Caring for a newborn during a heat wave can feel daunting, especially if you're already navigating sleep deprivation and recovery.

A few gentle reminders:

β˜€οΈ Keep rooms cool where possible.
πŸ‘Ά Dress baby in light layers.
πŸ’§ Stay hydrated, especially if you're breastfeeding.
πŸŒ™ Consider opening windows during cooler parts of the day.
❀️ Ask for help if you need it.

The postpartum period isn't about doing everything perfectly. It's about taking care of yourself and your baby one day at a time.

You are learning together.

We want to hear from you...

What's harder?

β˜€οΈ Being heavily pregnant during a heat wave
OR
πŸ₯΅ Entertaining toddlers while trying not to melt in a heat wave

Cast your vote in the comments and tell us why.

Bonus points if you've experienced both at the same time!

Let's see which side wins. πŸ‘‡

If today has felt hard, this is your reminder that simply getting through a heat wave while pregnant is enough.

You don't need to have a spotless house.
You don't need to be productive.
You don't need to tick everything off your to-do list.

Your body is already doing something extraordinary.

Rest when you need to.
Drink the water.
Put your feet up.
Ask for support.

Growing a baby during a heat wave is no small task.

Be gentle with yourself today. ❀️

Everyone needs a cuddle!

People often talk about the importance of a village for new parents.
But doulas need a village too.

On the first Sunday of every month, our Doula Near Me Premium Members come together to chat about doula life, share experiences, laugh, learn, support one another, and sometimes just talk about life outside of birth.

Holding space for others is powerful work, but it can also be emotionally demanding. That's why these regular meetups matter so much.

They help us reset, reconnect, and ensure we continue to enjoy the work we love.

Because when doulas are supported, everyone benefits.

Community isn't a luxury. It's essential.

πŸ’œ It takes a village to support a family.
πŸ’œ It takes a village to support a doula too.

πŸ–€ The Statistics Around Maternity Outcomes for Women of Colour in the UK Are Still Shocking.
Black women in the UK are still significantly more likely to die during pregnancy, childbirth, or postpartum than white women.
They are also more likely to:
✨ Have their pain dismissed
✨ Feel unheard during labour
✨ Experience traumatic births
✨ Face poorer maternity outcomes
✨ Report discrimination within maternity care
This is not about individual stories anymore.
This is a systemic issue. 🌿
Research and reports continue to show that many women of colour do not feel listened to, respected, or safe within the maternity system. ()
At Doula Near Me.co, we believe every parent deserves:
πŸ’› To be heard
πŸ’› To be informed
πŸ’› To feel safe in their care
πŸ’› To have support and advocacy during birth
Doulas cannot fix the system β€” but they can help parents navigate it with more confidence, continuity, and support. 🀍
Because everyone deserves respectful, compassionate maternity care.
πŸ’¬ What changes do you think maternity services still need to make?

🚨 Did you know you can ask to see your placenta after birth? 🚨

Most parents spend months learning about their baby, but very few are shown the incredible organ that sustained their baby throughout pregnancy.

As a doula, I always encourage parents to ask to see their placenta after birth.

Why?

🌿 It's an opportunity to see the organ that provided oxygen, nutrients, and protection to your baby for months.

🌿 You can ask the midwife to explain the different parts and how they check that it is complete.

🌿 Understanding that the placenta and membranes appear intact can provide reassurance that the routine examination has been carried out.

🌿 It's a chance to appreciate the remarkable work your body has done in growing and nourishing your baby.

The placenta is often treated as medical waste, but for nine months it was your baby's lifeline.

Take a moment to see it, learn about it, and acknowledge the extraordinary job it has done.

Have you ever seen a placenta after birth? Let me know in the comments πŸ‘‡

A woman doesn't surrender her rights when she enters labour.

Her body.
Her baby.
Her birth.

Her voice matters.

Your Partner makes a huge difference to how you feel in labour πŸ’›

Partners often want to help β€” they just don’t always know HOW.
Here are a few ways to prepare together before birth :

✨ Attend antenatal classes, read the same books and listen to the same podcasts - embrace knowledge together
✨ Discuss your birth preferences early
✨ Practice comfort measures & breathing techniques
✨ Talk about fears and expectations
✨ Pack the hospital bag together
✨ Learn labour stages together
✨ Decide how your partner can advocate for you
✨ Make a postpartum support plan too
Birth is a team experience β€” and preparation helps everyone feel calmer and more confident. 🌿
A doula can also help partners feel supported, involved, and less overwhelmed during labour.

πŸ’¬ Did your partner feel prepared for labour?
