What a busy day our Devenish Gardens residents have had!

From hand-eye coordination exercises and colourful scarf waving to dancing and hand-jiving along to the classic songs from Grease, there was plenty of fun, laughter, and movement throughout the day.

The excitement continued with a lovely trip to Hillier's, where residents enjoyed getting out and about together.

There were lots of smiles and giggles along the way – and that's exactly what we love to see!

Your Voice Matters at Ascot Grange!

Today, at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection our residents came together for our regular Activities Ideas Meeting with our Well-being Coordinator, Jane and the Activities team.

It was wonderful to hear such positive feedback about the recent activities and events, with residents sharing how much they have enjoyed taking part in activities such as panning for gold, informative talks and flower arranging.

The meeting is also an opportunity for everyone to have their say. Jane asked residents what they'd like to see on future activity planners, which clubs they'd like to join, and where they'd like to visit on upcoming outings.

Our residents came up with some fantastic ideas, and the team are excited to take these away and start turning them into reality.

After all, the best activities are the ones our residents help to create!

What a rootin' tootin' afternoon we had at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection !

Our Activities Team continued our Wild West week by dressing up as cowboys and cowgirls, setting the scene for a fantastic day of fun.

Our talented Chef and Kitchen Team prepared a delicious Texan-style barbecue lunch, which was thoroughly enjoyed by our residents before the afternoon's entertainment began.

A huge thank you to KelBilly Stomp Duo -Care Home Entertainers who arrived bursting with energy! Residents sang along, shook their tambourines, tapped their feet, and even enjoyed watching our Activities Team take to the dance floor!

As residents relaxed with an afternoon drink, the duo entertained us with lively country-style versions of well-known songs, creating a wonderful atmosphere filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of "Yee-haws!"

A big thank you to our amazing team, the KelBilly Stomp Duo, and everyone who helped make it such a fantastic afternoon of music, fun, friendship, and unforgettable Wild West memories.

There's gold in them thar hills at Grange Care Home - Avery Collection !

Yesterday, our residents tried their hand at panning for gold! Armed with their pans and plenty of enthusiasm, they searched through our "murky river" (thankfully contained in a dish!) in the hope of striking it lucky.

Every time someone discovered a nugget, they celebrated with a loud "Yee Haw!" as Western music played in the background, creating a fantastic Wild West atmosphere. Residents joined in throughout the afternoon, with plenty of laughter, friendly competition and a surprising amount of gold uncovered!

Once all the gold had been counted, our prospectors were rewarded with refreshing drinks and a handful of Frontier Dollars to celebrate their hard-earned fortunes.

Although everyone enjoyed discovering their golden nuggets, the greatest treasure of the day was the laughter, friendship and memories shared together. That's the kind of gold we love finding at Ascot Grange. 💛

This week Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection has been transported to the Wild West!

Our activities team kicked off the week with a fascinating talk on the Outlaws of the Wild West, with Rob bringing history to life by dressing the part as a cowboy!

We were also delighted to welcome Mark back for another of his fantastic glass art workshops. Keeping with our Wild West theme, residents created beautiful prickly cactus designs.

We've also been busy in the kitchen, baking homemade apple pies together. It was a wonderful opportunity to reminisce, share favourite recipes, and, of course, enjoy a well-earned slice!
..and it's only Tuesday! Keep tuned to see what the rest of the week has in store.

Another Avery Moments top ten club at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection is Art & Craft.

This week, our residents have been busy assisting Rob in creating the scenery for our next armchair travels... but this adventure comes with a bit of a twist!

We won't reveal our destination just yet, but this craft session involved wagon wheels, cardboard tubes, a box with a handle... and lots of brown paint!

Any guesses where we're heading?

Now all we need to do is build a cardboard time machine to take us there...

Two of our Top 10 Avery Moments Clubs in action!

Board games and word puzzles are always a big hit here at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection so it's no surprise they've both earned a place in our current Top 10 Avery Moments Clubs!

We love a good game of Scrabble, and things can get quite competitive at times! Luckily, with our trusty dictionary (and the occasional Google search!), we soon settle any debates and keep the game flowing – all while enjoying plenty of tea and refreshments.

Crosswords, word searches and other brain-teasing puzzles are also favourites. It's wonderful to see our residents working together, sharing ideas and encouraging one another.

These activities are about so much more than words and games – they keep minds active, spark conversation, create laughter and bring everyone together

A Seaside afternoon full of memories at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection today!

Our Devenish Gardens residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of seaside reminiscing.

Together, we looked through photos of holidays gone by and shared fond memories of donkey rides, trips to Blackpool, building sandcastles, and even the famous knobbly knees competitions! The stories, laughter and smiles brought so many treasured moments back to life.

With toes dipped into our very own mini seaside, we finished the afternoon in the best British tradition—with a delicious ice cream... and of course, it had to have a Flake!

It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the year!

As we reach July, we've been looking back at the last six months and reflecting on the wonderful memories we've shared at Ascot Grange.

There have been so many reasons to smile – celebrations, outings, entertainment, laughter, new friendships and precious moments spent with families. Every day brings something different, and it's those shared experiences that make our home so special.

Alongside the happy memories, we also remember those residents who are no longer with us. They will always remain a part of the Ascot Grange family, and we feel incredibly privileged to have shared a chapter of their lives.

Whether a resident has been with us for years or joined us for a short respite stay, it is an honour to care for them and create meaningful moments together.

At Ascot Grange, we're more than a care home – we're a family. Thank you to every resident, relative, friend and member of our team for making the first half of the year so memorable. Thank you also to every family who has trusted us with the care of someone they love.

Here's to making even more wonderful memories together in the second half of the year. ❤️
