Parents are told to “wait it out” all the time…
But here’s what I see every week 👇

Some children do grow out of feeding and speech difficulties.
But many don’t…and early support makes things so much easier.

I can’t tell you how many parents say:
“I wish we’d come sooner.”

🚩 If your child is coughing, gagging, or avoiding foods
🚩 If mealtimes feel tense or unpredictable
🚩 If your gut is telling you something isn’t right

You don’t need to wait for it to get worse.

Early support = less stress, better progress, more confidence (for both of you)

🚩 Signs to NEVER ignore at mealtimes 🚩

Mealtimes should feel safe and enjoyable — but sometimes our children show us subtle (and not-so-subtle) signs that something isn’t right.

Here are some red flags to watch for:

⚠️ Coughing or choking during eating or drinking
⚠️ Changes in colour (pale, red, or blue tinge)
⚠️ Changes in breathing (fast, noisy, or laboured)
⚠️ Voice changes (wet, gurgly, or hoarse after swallowing)
⚠️ Frequent gagging or vomiting
⚠️ Recurrent chest infections

These can be signs of feeding or swallowing difficulties and shouldn’t be brushed off as “just a phase.”

Trust your gut — you know your child best. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s always worth seeking support.

✨ Early support can make all the difference. Is your child showing any of these signs? Get in touch today for support

Second-born children & speech 👶💬

You might have heard that second-borns “talk later”… but is it true?

👉 Sometimes — but not always.

Here’s why it can happen:
✨ They get less 1:1 time with adults
✨ Older siblings often talk for them
✨ They’re great listeners (but feel less need to speak!)

BUT — their understanding of language is usually just as strong 💡

And the best part?
Many second-borns catch up quickly and often develop amazing social communication skills from being around others 👯‍♀️

💛 What can help:
• Build in small moments of 1:1 time
• Pause and give them time to respond
• Encourage siblings to let them “have a turn”

🚩 Trust your instincts:
If you’re worried about your child’s speech or understanding, it’s always okay to seek support early. Link in bio for how to work with me.

Save this if you’ve heard this myth before & share with another parent

Many people think “speech” and “language” mean the same thing, but they’re actually different:

✨ Speech = the sounds we make to form words (clarity, articulation, voice, fluency).
✨ Language = the meaning behind words — how we understand, combine, and use them to share ideas.

👉 A child may have clear speech but struggle to put words together (language difficulties)
👉 Another child may know lots of words but have trouble saying certain sounds (speech difficulties)

Knowing the difference helps parents spot challenges early and get the right support.

We’re only half way through September and already the bugs seem to be out in full force.
I get asked a lot about appetite and sickness so wanted to share my tips.
Although it can be worrying for parents when their little one is unwell and they don’t want to eat much, it is totally normal. Often appetite bounces back once the illness passes.

What helps your little in when they are feeling unwell? Flood the comments and let us know ⬇️
