I’m washing my son’s school uniform today…

His first school uniform.

And for some reason, as I’m standing there washing these tiny little shirts and trousers, I’m taken right back to washing tiny newborn clothes before he was born.

The same feeling of wondering who this little person would become.

Except now I know.

I know he’s determined, is a natural at making friends, he’s got better banter than most adults I know and he’s so independent but still leans on us when he needs.

I know the things he loves, the things that make him laugh, the things that scare him, the things that make him… him.

And suddenly I’m thinking about how quickly we’ve got here.

This is the boy who made me a mummy.

The first little person who completely changed my world.

And now I’m washing his uniform ready for his first day at school.

It’s exciting. We are ready…

It’s a little bit scary.

And I feel ridiculously proud.

And if I’m honest, there’s a tiny part of me that wants to slow everything down.

Because I don’t think I realised that preparing for a milestone like this would bring so many memories with it.

It’s not just about him starting school.

It’s about remembering the baby he was, looking at the little boy he’s become, and realising that I’m stepping into another new chapter of motherhood too.

I’ve been spending lots of time thinking about getting him ready for this next stage, I haven’t given myself much time.

And I think that’s why I’ve been thinking about preparation so much lately.

We spend so much time preparing for our babies… but preparing for ourselves matters too.

For the birth.
For the transition.
For becoming a mum, or becoming a mum again.

Because these big moments change us too. 🤍

So tonight, I’ll be labelling his clean uniform. I’m not going to kid myself and think I’ll be ironing it.

But I’ll have a little moment over the fact that the tiny baby clothes I once washed with so much anticipation have somehow turned into a school uniform.

How did that happen? 🫶🏼

If you’re expecting a baby between October & January, this one’s for you 🫶🏼

Now is the time to start getting your birth prep in.

Not because you need another thing on your to-do list…

But because you deserve to go into birth feeling:

✨ Calm and able to stay grounded when things feel intense
✨ Confident in your body and your ability to birth your baby
✨ Clear on what you want and able to advocate for yourself
✨ Connected to your birth partner, with them knowing how to truly support you
✨ Able to relax, release fear and trust yourself more
✨ Prepared for the unexpected, without feeling overwhelmed by it

Birth preparation isn’t about planning every detail of how your birth will happen.

It’s about preparing yourself for whatever birth brings.

My diary is open and ready to welcome new 121 clients, with sessions created specifically around you, your pregnancy and the birth you’re preparing for.

And if you’ve had a baby before and want to do birth differently this time, I’d love to chat.

What if your birth partner knew exactly what to do? 🤍

I’ve heard so many stories of birth partners who weren’t engaged.

Who didn’t know how to support their partner.

Who froze when things got intense.

Who didn’t know what to say, where to be, how to help… or how to advocate for the person they loved.

And honestly?

I don’t think it’s very unlikely to be because they don’t want to support you.

Sometimes, they simply don’t know how.

Because nobody really teaches us how to be a birth partner.

So what if that changed?

What if you could prepare together during pregnancy?

What if you could have the conversations you actually need to have, without them feeling awkward or overwhelming?

What if you could work through your birth preferences together, understand your options, and make decisions as a team?

What if, when labour begins, your birth partner didn’t just stand beside you…

…but actually knew how to support you?

How to help you stay calm.

How to use the breathing and relaxation techniques.

How to use touch and massage.

How to create the environment you want.

How to recognise what you might need before you even have to ask.

How to communicate with your care team.

How to advocate for you when you’re busy birthing your baby.

And most importantly…

What if you both went into birth feeling like a team?

That’s why my birth preparation courses are designed for you and your birth partner.

Because birth preparation shouldn’t just be about preparing you to give birth.

It’s about preparing you both for the experience.

So when the moment comes, they don’t have to wonder:

“What am I supposed to do?”

They know.

And you know they know. 🤍

If you want to feel more prepared, more connected and genuinely supported by your birth partner, my birth preparation courses are designed to help you do exactly that.

You don’t have to prepare for birth alone. You can prepare together.

Do you know what…

Some time away has done me the world of good.

Even with the chaos of two children on holiday (I wouldn’t exactly decribe the time away as relaxing!), it’s given me something I didn’t realise I needed… perspective.

I’ve had a mindset shift.
I’m creating healthier boundaries.
I’m leaning into what feels right for me.
I’m focusing on what truly needs my time and energy in this season of life.

Like many parents running businesses, I’m constantly balancing ambition with reality.

Yes, I’m thinking long-term. I’m intentionally building and shaping things now, knowing that when my Pippa starts nursery in September 2027, I’ll have more capacity to accelerate.

But until then?

I’m choosing not to wish this season away.

I’ll be prioritising time with my children, showing up for my businesses in ways that feel sustainable, exploring my entrepreneurial ideas - not ignoring them, having the conversations that light me up, and continuing to invest in my mindset.

Because I’ve realised something…

Success doesn’t have to mean doing everything, all at once.

Sometimes it’s about building patiently, staying connected to who you are, and giving yourself permission to grow at the pace your life allows.

This season isn’t holding me back.

It’s shaping the leader and business owner I’m becoming.

In the meantime, I do have capacity to work 121 with expecting mamas and their birth partners, I’ll be running one monthly The Pregnancy Pause and you may see the odd Group Course pop up - just reach out if you want to find out more 🫶🏼

Second-time mums often tell me they feel guilty for not having the time or headspace to prepare for birth the way they imagined.

The truth is… you’re not starting from scratch. You’re bringing experience, strength and wisdom with you too.

You deserve to feel prepared, supported and excited about birth, even if life is busier this time around.

If you’re pregnant with your second (or third!) baby and want calm, positive and realistic birth preparation that works around family life, my inbox is always open. 🫶🏼
