When anger remains unfelt
I have noticed
That it can twist inwards
Inside my guts
Limbs swallowed into body
Collapsed

When anger remains unfelt
I have noticed
That it can twist outwards
Clasping, grasping and choking
At the other

When I feel my anger
Somehow getting past
My classic pattern of
Avoidance

It can move
In surprising ways
That can stay within
The containment
Of my own body

My own body
My own body to feel
My own anger to feel
My own body to exist in

My choice.

My body loves Truth

And sometimes that is enough.

In nervous system fundamentals in a creative gentle way - we begin to explore the potential of what in Somatic Experiencing is called our Red Energy.

Red energy is our life force. Our boundary. Our healthy aggression. But it's a bit of an art form navigating this territory, a constant exploration ... and we begin to open that door a little bit on NSF, in creative resourcing movement based ways.

Course starts Sep 12th. Full info on my website www.emilykatsunoyoga.com.

I read something a while a go that said the unlived life of the mother is the greatest burden on the child. Probably it's true to some degree but FFS how many unlived lives is it possible to have?! I have so many - it's not possible to live them all out and I am grateful that they were all seed of something that in fact prove to be great resources no matter how much they have blossomed.

And I am also asking the question - what is possible?

This is with me right now as my life is a mixture of endings and new beginnings ✨

I taught my last Wednesday evening class at The Soma Shala (Fridays class and 1-2-1's will keep running).

This class - Somatic Yoga - will now move to the beautiful The Hands On Retreat Weds evening 18:00-19:30 starting in September.

Please come and explore somatic yoga with me if you are interested in exploring a relationship with your body that invites a freedom of expression within the structure of yoga.

That invites movement to pe*****te beyond the structural mechanics of the body.

That explores movement as autonomy, choice, agency and resistance.

Advanced booking essential - book through me [email protected] exact dates TBC soon.

Not updated on my website yet but will soon.

Breaking the ice with a reel that involves speaking into the camera!

Wanting to share a bit more about Nervous System Fundamentals....

A six workshop in person course starting this September .

A foundational deeper dive with both theory and lots of practice and enquiry - big focus on resource and why it's about so much more than 'calming down'...

Grateful for SE training 🩵🙏🏼

A space is opening up that seems far beyond the renegotiation of trauma - or what I could have imagined anyway. A space to live more fully, with more aliveness, borne out of all the struggles, not devoid of them.

This is the most life affirming, human, joy bringing practice that I really don't have words for right now.

I am grateful I found my way here somehow and to have the opportunity to share in this with others 💚

Pic 1 - Folding and unfolding.

Spontaneously scrumpled paper to support illustrating how we might fold and unfold the body in new and unique ways - exploring new non habbitual pathways. Often a practice we explore in somatic yoga - in yoga there is a lot of folding and unfolding so how can we explore this differently each time? How can we allow the body to fold and unfold in it's own unique way as we move in the moment? Folding and unfolding is part of the process our cells made as we came into form - when we return to this experience through movement we are exploring how it supports our continued embodiment as we move through life.

Pic 2 - Freedom and containment - randomly placed block at the end of yoga which perfectly represents the different states of being we often explore and everything in between and how we move between freedom and containment and how and why both are beneficial. Exploring the therapeutic potential of both.

Sometimes we lose a sense of connection to ourselves.

But the challenges we’ve lived through can also become a source of strength.

Through a body-based approach, I offer tools that work with the innate intelligence of the body, to support this process.

NSF is a creative body-based course exploring how somatics, movement, and nervous system awareness can support you in working with stress, overwhelm, and dysregulation.

Through a gradual and supportive approach, you’ll learn to reconnect with your body, build capacity, and develop practical tools for returning to regulation.

We’ll explore key somatic practices such as grounding, orienting, and resourcing, while developing a deeper understanding of your own nervous system responses and patterns.

This course integrates Somatic Experiencing®, Polyvagal-informed understanding, somatic movement tools and trauma-sensitive yoga, offering both education and direct embodied experience.

The group space is an important part of the process. Through shared experience, resonance, and co-regulation, new and multiple pathways for self-understanding can emerge.

You’ll be supported to gently work with activation and shutdown states, at your own pace, while building the capacity to move between challenge and resource.

Simple, accessible practices are offered throughout, so you can begin to integrate this work into everyday life.

No prior experience is needed.

6 X 3hr workshops over 12 weeks.

My background as a contemporary dancer, my work as a trauma-sensitive yoga therapist, my training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and my experience as a mother of three all weave together to inform my approach.

I support people to cultivate the body as a place of resource, through a deepening relationship with movement, self, location, felt sense, and what is emergent in the moment.
