This year, we’re supporting Diabetes UK’s call to “Strike Out Stigma” - because diabetes is nobody’s fault, and no one should face judgement or blame for living with it.

Sadly, many people with diabetes still experience negative attitudes and misunderstanding, which can even stop them from getting the care they need.

At the Kent & Medway Diabetic Eye Screening Programme, we’re here to support you. Regular eye screening can help detect changes early and protect your sight.

We were proud to attend the East Kent Mind Veterans Event this week, hosted by East Kent Mind at Canterbury Christ Church University🎖️

It was fantastic to see more than 30 veterans recognised for their contribution to the community, and to be part of a day that brought together over 150 veterans alongside a range of support organisations.

Supporting our veterans is incredibly important - they’ve given so much, and it’s vital we help them access the care and support they deserve, from health services to community connections.
Thank you to East Kent Mind for such a meaningful event 💙

Giving back to the local community with your colleagues 🤝

Did you know your company or organisation can book volunteering days with us?

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming colleagues from Kent & Medway Diabetic Eye Screening Programme to Webbs’ Garden for a fantastic day of volunteering.

From landscaping to weeding and pruning, the team made a real difference in our beautiful 2-acre walled garden at St Martin’s Hospital, Canterbury.

The day also helped raise funds for Health, heart, hope our trust charity that maintains and cares for this special space.

Originally created in 1985 to support the wellbeing of mental health patients, Webbs’ Garden continues to offer a peaceful haven for relaxation and recovery today.

Yesterday the KMDESP team had the pleasure of attending the Thrive After 50 event, hosted by East Kent Mind, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, Home Instead, and Hartsdown Academy.💙

It was a fantastic day connecting with other community organisations, chatting with some of our patients, and meeting people interested in learning more about diabetic eye screening. We even enjoyed some refreshments and there was a raffle!

The event offered a brilliant range of support for attendees, including wellbeing and mental health services, information on local community groups, veteran support, and financial and care advice

What a great day we had! 🌟

This week we highlight another one of our venues, Chestfield Medical Centre, Reeves Way, Chestfield, Kent, CT5 3QU

Good accessibility, patient parking on site, located next to Whitstable Rugby Club just off the Thanet Way roundabout. Follow the sign turning left at the Rugby club, then follow the road around to main reception & car park. Bus routes 5, 914, 915, 916, & 917 stop at the bus stop at the top of Chestfield Road. Go left at the roundabout, turn left again to reach the Centre. Chestfield & Swalecliffe station brings you out onto the Thanet Way roundabout. Turn right, cross the road to reach the Centre.
