Will I bruise after aesthetic treatments?
Treatments such as dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, and skin boosters involve the use of fine needles or cannulas, and during treatment, small blood vessels beneath the skin can be disrupted, which may result in mild to moderate bruising. While this can vary from person to person, it is not typically a cause for concern.
What is often underestimated, however, is the importance of appropriate aftercare. The way you care for your skin post-treatment plays a significant role in both recovery time and overall results. Avoiding alcohol, excessive heat (such as saunas or hot showers), and strenuous exercise for the first 24–48 hours can help minimise bruising and swelling. Applying a cold compress, keeping the head elevated, and following all guidance can further support optimal healing.
It is also important to plan treatments with adequate downtime in mind, particularly if you have an upcoming event. While most bruising resolves within a few days, allowing time for full recovery ensures the best aesthetic outcome.
