This week we’ve had the honour of caring for four different families, each saying goodbye to their loved ones in their own very special way.

From the peaceful woodland of Bybrook Cemetery, to laughter, tears and treasured memories at Charing Crematorium — every farewell has been completely unique.

It’s been a busy, emotional and very warm week, and we’ve finished it with the most beautiful sunflowers, courtesy of Hannas Bloom Room 🌻

Sunflowers feel especially fitting at the end of a week like this — a little reminder of warmth, love, happiness and the light that someone leaves behind.

Four families, four different farewells, and four lives remembered with love. 💛

A few weeks ago, the football season came to an end with the annual Faversham Strike Force Football Club Celebration Day – a fantastic event that brings the whole club together to celebrate another brilliant season, recognising every player's hard work, commitment and achievements.

The Country Funerals Lightning U7s were out in full force, proudly collecting their well-earned medals, with a few of the boys also taking home individual trophies.

I think one of their favourite parts of the day would be finally getting their own back on coaches Tom and Tim, who willingly took their place in the stocks and became the target of a few wet sponges!

We couldn't be prouder of everything they've achieved this season. Here's to the next chapter as U8s. 🐝 ⚡️💙⚽

As a mum to a seven-year-old, who asked me last week…

"Mum... do we open our eyes again when we get to heaven?"

I've never shied away from conversations about death. I suppose that's what comes with growing up around a funeral home. Theo has always known it's okay to ask questions and talk about the people we miss.

So hearing that grief is becoming part of the primary school curriculum from
September feels like a really positive step. Children experience loss too, and giving them the confidence and language to understand those feelings can only help.

Working at Country Funerals, we see every day that grief is simply love with nowhere to go. If we can help children understand that from a young age, they'll never have to feel they're facing it alone. 🤍

Three and a half years ago, I joined Mum to help care for local families. Everything I know, I’ve learnt from her, and I’m still learning every day. Watching the way she supports people with such kindness and compassion in her job and everyday life.

We never expect thanks, but we’re always incredibly grateful when familes send us a message. This particular family has left a lasting mark on my heart. Supporting them has been a privilege, and I know I’ll carry their trust and kindness with me for a very long time, if not forever. 🦋 💜

A first for Country Funerals, and a truly memorable presence. Anyone who knows us knows just how much we love our dogs, so it was an honour to welcome this magnificent Irish Wolfhound, proudly representing the Irish Guards. A powerful symbol of loyalty, dignity, and tradition, it added a deeply meaningful touch to a heartfelt farewell.

Horse-drawn hearses have been part of funeral traditions for generations, offering a dignified and memorable final journey. Their gentle presence brings a sense of occasion and reflection, creating a fitting tribute to a loved one.

Thank you to these four beautiful boys and Sonny Hillier Horse Drawn Carriages for transporting this much-loved wife, mum and friend on her final journey.

Grateful, as always, to Sonny Hillier Horse Drawn Carriages and these four beauties for today’s service. Despite the rain, they carried us with the same grace and dignity as ever.

I’ve just about dried out now! Next time, I’ll do my best to organise a little sunshine too. ☀️

What a difference a week makes ! The black team preparing to brave the heavy showers !

www.legend-on-the-bench.co.uk

Legend on the Bench is a UK-based su***de prevention charity founded by Micky Hazard and his sister Michelle after the tragic loss of Michelle’s son in 2019. The charity installs specially designed benches in parks, hospitals, and public spaces across the UK, providing QR codes and contact information for mental health support services.

Each bench serves as a symbol of hope, encouraging people who may be struggling with mental health challenges to seek help and remember that “someone is always listening.” Through community fundraising and public awareness, the organization aims to reduce su***de rates and create safe spaces for reflection, conversation, and support.

“We need a Jellycat dragon, can you help us?”

He was perfect in every way.

Created with love, colour and a little bit of magic, this special tribute brought so many smiles to everyone who saw him.
