⭐️⭐️EXCITING OPPORTUNITY ⭐️⭐️

Prime Active Communities CIC is running a free nine-day Summer Creative Camp for young people aged 10–16 at Hurst Cross Community Centre.

The camp will give young people the opportunity to work alongside professional artists, musicians and youth workers to create an original live performance for family and friends.

Activities will include:
⭐️Music and songwriting
⭐️Drama and acting
⭐️Filmmaking and scriptwriting
⭐️Animation and art
⭐️Rehearsal and performance skills

Sessions run from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The final day will begin at 1:00pm, followed by a performance for families and invited guests later that day.

The camp is suitable for young people with different levels of confidence and experience. No previous creative or performance experience is required. It is designed to help young people make friends, build confidence, develop new skills and contribute to a shared creative production.

Free transport will be available for young people travelling from Hattersley. The daily pick-up point will be Hattersley Hub Car Park at 10:00am, with return to Hattersley Hub at approximately 3:30pm. Separate arrangements will apply on the final performance day.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) remain at the scene of a wildfire near Dovestones Reservoir, where firefighters and partner agencies are continuing to work to contain the fire and prevent further spread.

Due to weather conditions, smoke from the fire may be noticeable in parts of Greater Manchester and beyond.

GMFRS are posting updates on their webpage and have asked for the following message to be shared...

'If smoke is affecting your area, or there is visible smoke nearby, stay indoors where possible and keep windows and doors closed to reduce smoke entering your home. During the hot weather, people can help keep cool by drawing curtains to block direct sunlight, using fans to circulate air and keeping hydrated. Once smoke has moved away, consider opening windows and doors to ventilate and cool your home, while continuing to monitor conditions and follow any updated public advice.

Police are also asking people to avoid the Dovestones area to allow emergency services to work safely and keep access routes clear. Road closures remain in place at Holmfirth Road and Bank Lane with no access to Dovestone Reservoir. We ask that members of the public avoid the affected areas ensuring emergency services have the space to carry out their work safely and effectively.'

Thankyou to the emergency services dealing with this ongoing incident!

🎉 Great news for families this summer!

✅ VAT on children's days out is being reduced from 20% to 5%, helping to lower the cost of children's restaurant meals, theatre and cinema tickets, and entry to attractions such as soft play centres, museums and amusement parks.

✅ Children aged 5–15 can travel free on local bus services in England throughout August, making family days out, visits to relatives and local adventures more affordable.
Every little helps when school holidays can be an expensive time for families. Take a look and see what's available near you.
