World Su***de Prevention Day.
Today, at Anthony Barton Independent Family Funeral Services, we remember those who have sadly lost their lives to su***de, and we stand with the families, friends and communities who continue to live with that loss.
Su***de leaves a lasting impact. As funeral directors, we see first-hand the profound grief and unanswered questions that can follow the loss of a loved one. Behind every statistic is a person who was loved, a family who is grieving, and a story that mattered.
This World Su***de Prevention Day, we want to help encourage something that can make a difference, talking, listening and reaching out.
We are particularly proud to recognise the work being carried out here in Tameside by organisations such as The Anthony Seddon Fund, which provides peer-led mental health support, wellbeing activities, bereavement support and a welcoming place for people who may be struggling.
There are also other organisations and services offering vital support across Tameside and Greater Manchester, including Samaritans Andys Man Club Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester Mind
If you are struggling, or worried about someone you care about, please don’t be afraid to start a conversation. You don’t need to have the right words. Sometimes simply asking “Are you okay?” and being prepared to listen can be the beginning of something important.
And if you have lost someone to su***de, please remember that you don’t have to face your grief alone. Support is available, and asking for help is never a sign of weakness.
You matter. Your life matters. And there is always someone willing to listen.
