“I am old, and death inevitably approaches. But both birth and death are beyond the will of a human being. They are not my domain.
I do not think about it. Yoga has taught me to think of only working to live a useful life. The complexity of the life of the mind comes to an end at death, with all its sadness and happiness. If one is already free from that complexity, death comes naturally and smoothly. If you live holistically at every moment, as yoga teaches, even though the ego is annihilated, I will not say, "Die before you die." I would rather say,
"Live before you die, so that death is also a lively celebration."”

NOT A STYLE. A METHOD OF EDUCATION.

People often ask what makes Iyengar Yoga different.

Props.
Alignment.
Long holds.

These are the visible features of the practice.
But they are consequences—not causes.

The Iyengar system is not simply a style of yoga. It is a method of education.
It educates the body, the senses, the mind and the intelligence—in that order.

The body comes first.
Not because it is the most important, but because it is the most accessible.

A teacher can explain where to place the foot, how to extend the leg or where to distribute the weight.

The body can feel the difference.
Then the senses begin to participate.

Once the form is established, awareness moves inward:
Skin.
Breath.
Weight.
Pressure.
Space.

Then the mind enters.

The mind that resists.
The mind that wanders.
The mind that gradually learns to remain present.

Then intelligence.
Not the intelligence that memorizes instructions.
The intelligence that perceives.

Over time, the practitioner begins to recognize what is happening without waiting to be told.

The body becomes more intelligent.
The pose begins to teach.
That is a method.
Not a style.

💬 Which layer are you learning through right now—the body, the senses, the mind or the intelligence?

Curious to experience this way of learning through practice?

Comment “JOIN CLASS” and we’ll share the class details with you.
