πΈ Is It Anxiety... Or Is It Perimenopause? πΈ
I've lost count of the number of women who have sat in my therapy room and said:
"I don't feel like myself anymore."
They tell me they're suddenly feeling anxious.
Their confidence has disappeared.
They're overthinking everything.
They're struggling to sleep.
They're snapping at their loved ones.
They're feeling overwhelmed by things they used to cope with easily.
And often they ask the same question:
"Why is this happening to me?"
The truth is, sometimes what looks like anxiety isn't anxiety alone.
It can be perimenopause.
During perimenopause, fluctuating hormone levels can have a significant impact on the brain and nervous system. Many women experience increased anxiety, low mood, brain fog, poor sleep, irritability and feelings of overwhelm, often without realising that hormonal changes may be contributing.
The frustrating part is that many women spend months, or even years, wondering why they suddenly feel different.
Why they're struggling to cope.
Why they feel emotional.
Why they no longer recognise themselves.
If this sounds familiar, please know that you're not failing.
You're not weak.
And you're certainly not alone.
Understanding what's happening in your body is often the first step towards feeling more in control.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can be incredibly helpful during this stage of life by reducing stress, calming the nervous system, improving sleep and helping you build resilience during a time of significant change.
Perimenopause may be part of your journey, but it doesn't have to define it.
You deserve support, understanding and the opportunity to feel like yourself again.
