Thank you to everyone who has respected the wildfire-related closures over recent days.

While a small part of the National Park remains closed, the vast majority of the Cairngorms continues to welcome visitors.

The map highlights the current closure area rather than the fire itself, as wildfire conditions can change quickly. Please continue to avoid the trails and paths between Abernethy Forest, Ryvoan Bothy and Glenmore Forest until restrictions are lifted. A police cordon remains in place in Glenmore (the C7 ski road), and on two roads near Nethy Bridge - Dorback and Lettoch.

If you're visiting, please avoid the highlighted area, follow all local advice and check for the latest updates before you travel.

If you're looking for ideas beyond the closure area, the Cairngorms National Park Authority's blog on public access during the wildfire response includes visitor guidance and recommendations for alternative walks, trails and hills. https://cairngorms.co.uk/news/visitor-information-the-wildfire-and-public-access

Thank you for helping keep everyone safe while supporting communities across the Cairngorms.

We are currently in attendance at a large fire in the open near to Ryvoan Bothy within the Cairngorms National Park.

Operations Control were first alerted at 11.49am and we have mobilised four fire appliances and specialist wildfire resources to the area. There are no reported casualties.

Due to large volumes of smoke travelling towards populated areas nearby, residents in Aviemore, Glenmore and the surrounding communities should keep their windows and doors closed. If you are within this area and can see or smell smoke, please follow the same advice.

While we want people to enjoy the good weather, we ask that anyone in the Cairngorms National Park near to Aviemore and Glenmore avoids the area.

This part of the Cairngorms National Park is popular with hillwalkers, and we ask that people remain vigilant while active firefighting continues.
