Seeing flamingos in the wild near Perpignan was such a special experience… although contrary to popular belief, these ones weren't very pink! 🦩

When they’re raising their babies, flamingo parents can lose some of their vibrant colour because they put so much energy and nutrients into feeding and caring for their young.

Once the demanding early days are over and they’re able to replenish those nutrients, their pink colour gradually returns.

And honestly… as a doula, I couldn’t help but see the similarity. Parenthood can take a lot out of us, but with time, nourishment and care, we can begin to feel like ourselves again.

Something I love most about being part of The Village Midwife: Antenatal and Postnatal Courses team is running sessions on the postnatal course.

It's such a lovely excuse to keep seeing many of my birth doula clients after their babies arrive - often right up until they're around 6 months old!

The best part? This group is all about **YOU**. A chance to chat, share, learn, be supported and remember that your wellbeing matters too 🥰

Standing in awe of the Sagrada Família, I couldn’t help but think about the journey it has taken to create something so incredible.

It has been under construction for generations, and even now, nobody can say with complete certainty exactly when it will be finished.

Pregnancy can feel a little like that too. You know your baby is coming, but you don’t always know exactly *when* your pregnancy will end. Those final days or weeks can feel like an eternity!

But just like the Sagrada Família, something truly beautiful is happening while you wait… and boy, when you finally meet your baby, it is so worth it.

Relationship is at the heart of what I do as a birth doula.

Building a strong relationship is often about finding common ground, while also respecting and embracing the things that make us different.

A little like family holidays! For us, the one thing we can all agree on is that a holiday needs a **GOOD pool**… even if everyone has very different ideas about which slide is the best! 😂

The same is true when supporting families through pregnancy and birth. It’s about getting to know *you* — finding connection, understanding what matters to you, and respecting your individual needs, values and preferences.

Because feeling heard, understood and supported starts with relationship.

One of my favourite parts of my job is joining The Village Midwife: Antenatal and Postnatal Courses antenatal courses and meeting so many lovely parents-to-be.

The Village Midwife clients receive a discount on doula support with me as I know they'll leave the course feeling informed, confident and ready for birth. This gives us a brilliant foundation to build on together.

I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing team - and to do it with my wife!
