Every time I tell someone to wear SPF, I assume another 17p has been added to my secret Big Sunscreen account.

At this rate I’ll be retired by Thursday.

The most valuable thing I brought into aesthetics…

…didn’t come from aesthetics.

It came from my years in the NHS.

Long before I ever picked up a syringe, I learnt to understand the problem before looking for a solution.

That way of thinking has stayed with me throughout my career.

It’s why I don’t begin consultations by talking about treatments.

I start by understanding what’s changed, what’s bothering you and what you’re hoping to achieve.

Sometimes the right answer is treatment.

Sometimes it’s reassurance.

Sometimes it’s skincare.

Sometimes it’s simply giving things more time.

But the decision always comes after the assessment.

I don’t think that’s unique to me.

I think it’s what good clinical practice looks like.

If you’re looking for someone who’ll take the time to understand what’s going on before recommending treatment, I’d love to help.

Skin gets blamed for a lot 🥺

Tiredness, dullness, “looking older” - it’s usually the first thing people point at, (mostly because it’s the easiest thing to see.)

But it’s only one part of what’s actually going on. Underneath, bone is slowly remodelling.
Fat pads are shifting and thinning out. Skin’s just the bit you notice.

Which is honestly why two people the same age can look completely different. It’s not luck, and it’s not really about skincare either. It comes down to which of those layers has changed the most.

I look at all three before treatment ever comes into it. You need to understand why your face has changed before you can decide what, if anything, to actually do about it.

Can I be a bit picky for a minute? 😏

I completely understand why people use the phrase “non-surgical facelift.”

It’s catchy. It paints a picture.

The trouble is… it isn’t really what’s happening.

Injectables (like Radiesse or Sculptra) aren’t physically lifting your skin. They’re rebuilding support underneath it.

That extra support can make the skin above LOOK more lifted, but they’re two very different things.

It might sound like splitting hairs, but I think patients deserve to understand what’s actually happening rather than just hearing a clever phrase.

I’ll keep explaining treatments in plain English. Follow if that’s your thing.

When people finally get in touch, it can look like a spontaneous decision.

Most of the time, it isn’t.

They’ve noticed something in a photo. Wondered if it’s just the lighting. Thought about doing something about it. Decided not to. Thought about it again.

By the time someone walks through the clinic door, they’ve often spent weeks, sometimes months, going back and forth in their head.

That’s why I care so much about the first conversation.

I don’t start with what treatment you’re after.

I start with why now.

Because that answer is always more interesting than whatever’s written on the price list ☺️

One of my favourite parts of the job is the conversation before we even talk about treatment.

It’s usually where people say things like…

“I don’t really know how to explain it…”

Or…

“I just don’t look like myself anymore.”

From there, we work it out together.

Sometimes treatment is the right next step.

Sometimes reassurance is.

Both are perfectly good outcomes ☺️

They’ve been awfully quiet since this dropped. 😌

Terrible jokes. Honest advice. The occasional completely unnecessary handstand.

If you’re looking for natural-looking aesthetic treatments, straightforward conversations and the odd bit of nonsense… you’re in the right place.

Stick around. 😄
