Did you know? The four main causes of sight loss in the UK are:

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) – affects central vision, making it harder to read, recognise faces, or see fine detail.

Cataracts – clouding of the eye’s lens, causing blurred or misty vision.

Diabetic Retinopathy – damage to the retina from diabetes, which can lead to permanent vision loss if untreated.

Glaucoma – damage to the optic nerve, often linked to raised eye pressure, which can gradually narrow side vision.

These progressive conditions are more common as we age and together account for most severe visual impairment and blindness among adults in the UK.
