Why are these shoes better for your feet than flipflops?

The “better” sandal allows for more grip on the foot via the straps that go across the foot. The “best” ones securely hold the sandal on the foot thanks to the handy strap at the back going round the Achilles. The more secure the sandal/shoe is to your foot, the less the foot has to grip to the shoe. This is important as the toes need to extend at the point of pushing off the ground during walking and not flexing to try and hold onto the shoe. It’s not just the Birkenstock’s that are better for your feet, they are just a brilliant example of an alternate shoe to a flipflop that your chiropractor prefers!
