On Saturday we had our summer fair which was a great success. We enjoyed great food, live music from the fantastic Mike! games, laughter, reminiscing and we had the most beautiful weather!

We would like to thank all friends and family of our residents both current and past for your continued support to the home! It was so lovely to see all of you 💕

We would also like to thank every local business for your kind raffle prize donations and again your on going support! And to Rowena Hulme and the boys for collecting them all😍

Last week we were joined by Rodger and what a delight that was!

The residents enjoyed singing along to a great mix of songs!

They engaged well with Rodger and the beautiful entertainment he provided!

We love inviting entertainers into our home, the joy it brings is priceless

We had a great time playing different instruments and listening to the sounds! 🥁🪇🎶

Musical instruments are powerful tools in dementia care. Playing and listening to instruments engage deep emotional and procedural memory pathways, which often remain preserved.

It is linked to a reduced risk of cognitive decline and is utilized to manage symptoms, reduce anxiety, and improve communication.

Cognitive Reserve: Research, such as the PROTECT study, shows that older adults who play instruments or join choirs retain better memory and thinking skills, effectively building the brain's resilience.

Memory Recall: Familiar melodies and rhythms act as cues to unlock deep memories and emotions, often allowing individuals to communicate or express themselves when words fail.

Behavioral Comfort: Playing or listening to soothing music (like familiar classical or beloved past hits) can significantly reduce agitation, distress, and wandering.

Well what a wonderful morning we had here at Burton Closes! 🥰

We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided by a local singer, Mike Lees! 🎤🎵

He brought a fantastic playlist of songs through the times, he had our residents, staff and visitors engaged from the first song 🎶

We spent the hour singing, laughing and dancing. The residents we up on their feet showing off their moves, toes were tapping, hand clapping and the room was full of pure happiness ❤️

The positive impact music has on our residents is quite the treat! 💕

Thank you Mike for joining us and we hope to see you soon 🙌🏼
