🦶 Do You Have High Arched Feet? Here's What You Need to Know!
High arches (also known as pes cavus) may look like "good arches," but they can actually place extra stress on your feet and lower limbs.
Because less of the foot is in contact with the ground, pressure is concentrated on the heel and the ball of the foot. This can affect the way you walk and lead to a range of painful conditions.
Common problems associated with high arches include:
👣 Heel pain
👣 Ball of foot pain (metatarsalgia)
👣 Recurrent ankle sprains
👣 Plantar fasciitis
👣 Calluses and corns caused by increased pressure
👣 Stress fractures
👣 Claw toes or hammer toes
👣 Achilles tendon tightness
What can you do to help?
✅ Wear supportive footwear with good cushioning.
✅ Stretch your calf muscles and plantar fascia regularly.
✅ Strengthen the muscles in your feet and ankles to improve stability.
✅ Avoid worn-out footwear that offers little support.
If you're experiencing persistent foot pain, frequent ankle sprains, or discomfort when walking, it's worth having your feet assessed by a podiatrist. A thorough assessment can identify the underlying cause of your symptoms and help create a treatment plan that's tailored to you.
Don't ignore foot pain—healthy feet keep you moving! 👣
