The psoas is often called the “soul muscle” because it reacts strongly to stress and emotional states. The psoas is a deep hip flexor connecting the lower spine to the femur, and it plays a major role in posture, walking, spinal stability, and breathing mechanics. When the nervous system enters a fight, flight, or freeze state, the body naturally braces and curls forward to protect itself. The psoas becomes involved because it helps flex the hips and stabilize the trunk during protective movements. Chronic stress, anxiety, trauma, prolonged sitting, or constant tension can keep the muscle partially activated for long periods, leading to tight hips, low back discomfort, shallow breathing, and a persistent feeling of physical guarding. This does not mean emotions are literally “stored” in the muscle, but rather that the nervous system and muscular system are closely linked. Many people experience emotional release during psoas stretching, massage, breathwork, yoga, or somatic exercises because the body is finally relaxing chronic tension and down-regulating stress responses. The psoas is also closely connected to the diaphragm, so stress-related shallow breathing can increase tension around the hips and spine. Gentle approaches such as diaphragmatic breathing, walking, supported resting positions, mobility work, and gradual strengthening tend to help more than aggressive stretching. In this sense, the psoas reflects the body’s stress patterns and protective instincts more than it acts as a literal container for emotions or trauma.

Most people don’t realise they’ve been living in survival mode for years.

Always thinking. Always pushing. Always carrying tension, stress and emotional weight in the body.
The nervous system learns to stay alert for protection, and over time the body forgets what it feels like to truly soften, feel safe and let go.

You cannot feel safe until your nervous system believes you are.
And you cannot find inner peace while you are still fighting yourself.

This work is designed to help guide you out of your head and back into your body through breathwork, therapeutic bodywork and nervous system regulation.

A space to slow down.
To release what no longer serves you.
To reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.
Sometimes the body can express what words never could.

I was once where you are.

Disconnected from myself. Constantly in my head. Carrying stress, tension and emotional heaviness without even realising how much my nervous system was holding onto.

This work helped me reconnect to myself — and now I hold space for others to do the same.

Through therapeutic bodywork, breathwork and nervous system regulation, I create a safe space for the body to soften, release and let go in its own time.

11/05/2026

The Vagus Nerve is one of the most important nerves in the human body. Often called the body’s “superhighway,” it connects the brain to major organs including the heart, lungs, and digestive system. It plays a central role in the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps the body rest, relax, digest food, and recover from stress.

The vagus nerve helps regulate heart rate, breathing, digestion, mood, immune response, and even communication between the gut and brain. When the vagus nerve functions well, people may feel calmer, more balanced, and better able to manage stress. Poor vagal tone, however, has been linked to anxiety, inflammation, digestive issues, and chronic stress.

Breathwork helps regulate the body by activating the Vagus Nerve and calming the nervous system. Slow, intentional breathing signals safety to the brain, helping reduce stress, lower heart rate, and release tension stored in the body. Over time, a consistent breathwork journey can improve emotional balance, sleep, focus, digestion, and overall well-being, creating a deeper connection between the mind and body.

Simple daily habits can help stimulate and support the vagus nerve naturally. Deep breathing, meditation, humming, singing, cold water exposure, gentle exercise, and strong social connections may all improve vagal tone and activate the body’s relaxation response.
