Eight weeks. That’s how long it took to turn a lengthy, ongoing neck problem into something practically back to normal, one treatment at a time.

It’s easy to underestimate how much stiffness and pain build up over time, and how much patience it takes to properly ease it out again. This client stuck with the process, and the results speak for themselves.

Reviews like this one remind me why I do this work. Knowing someone can move through their day without that nagging pain following them around is the whole point. Thank you so much🤍

If you’ve got something similar lingering, whether it’s your neck, shoulders, or somewhere else that’s been bothering you for longer than you’d like, get in touch and let’s work out a plan together.

Sometimes a massage can leave you feeling a little… different. And that’s completely normal.

When your body finally gets the chance to slow down, your nervous system can respond in all sorts of ways. You might feel sleepy, emotional, notice your tummy rumbling, or feel a little tender the next day.

There’s no “right” way to feel after a treatment. Everyone responds differently, and sometimes letting go of physical tension can bring emotions with it too.

So afterwards, take things gently. Have some water, stretch if you need to, rest, and listen to what your body is asking for.

Your treatment doesn’t necessarily end when you leave the table. Sometimes, the reset happens afterwards. 🤍

My job is to help reduce pain, improve movement and get your tissues functioning better. But lasting results happen when we combine treatment with the right advice and exercises at home.

That doesn’t mean spending hours stretching every day. Often, just a few minutes of the right movements make a real difference.

At every appointment, I’ll give you advice specific to your body, your lifestyle and your goals.

Because recovery isn’t just about what happens on the treatment couch. It’s about what happens afterwards too.

Swipe through for a few simple ways to support your recovery between sessions.

I never planned on becoming a massage therapist.
Eight years ago I was running my own photography business, my kids were growing more independent, and I was looking for something that was just mine.
Massage therapy found me almost by accident. And once I discovered it, everything clicked.

After having my first child I went through postnatal depression. Looking back, I know how much regular massage and time to focus on myself could have helped. I didn’t realise then how deeply soft tissue therapy supports both body and mind. That’s part of why I do this now.

I started Ashburton Therapy with one goal: help people feel better.
What began small has grown into something I truly love. The more I learn about the human body, the more I want to know.

The best part of my job? Watching clients improve. Getting back to a hobby. Moving without pain. Sometimes reaching the point where they don’t need me anymore. That’s always the goal.

Thank you for being here, whether you’ve known me for years or just found this page. I’m so glad you’re here.

The oil I use in every treatment, and why.

Apricot kernel carrier oil from Naturally Thinking. Lightweight, rich in vitamin E, and kind to most skin types.

I love Naturally Thinking as a company too. Their focus on quality ingredients and sustainability fits perfectly with the values of Ashburton Therapy.

Got sensitive skin or an allergy? Let me know before your appointment and I’ll tailor your treatment to suit.

Your comfort always comes first.

Want something different? I also offer pre-blended aromatherapy oils, just ask.

If you’re marathon training right now, you already know how much your body is carrying week to week. Massage is often treated as an end of race treat, but it actually has a job to do at every stage, from the early weeks of base building right through to taper and race week itself.

I put together a free guide covering:
• why massage matters at each stage of training, not just after the race
• what to expect from base building through to race week
• signs your body’s telling you not to wait for your next session

It’s free to download, and the link is in the comments below.

Your body doesn’t wait for permission to break down.

Most people only book a massage once something’s already wrong. Stiff neck, locked-up shoulders, that ache that’s been “fine” for three weeks. But none of that showed up overnight. It built, quietly, while you kept pushing through.

Prevention isn’t glamorous. It doesn’t feel urgent until it’s too late to feel anything else.

Catch it early. Contact me for a chat and we can go from there.

One of the things that keeps this job so rewarding is seeing someone get their independence back.

A recent client, a retired gentleman who had always been active, came to see me eighteen months after a knee replacement. He was still dealing with constant aching, stiffness and limited bending in the knee. Simple things like kneeling down or walking any real distance were becoming a source of real frustration.

After his first session, he said his knee already felt looser. By the second, he was walking further with far less discomfort, kneeling again, and getting back to the activities he’d missed.

Every recovery is different and results vary from person to person, but moments like this are exactly why I do what I do. Helping someone move more freely and feel like themselves again never gets old.

Sports massage isn’t just for athletes. It’s for anyone who wants to move and feel better in daily life.🤍
