Don’t get me wrong: this month wasn’t all sunshine and roses. There was a car crash. There’s been less work than I’d like, which means money worries and a lot of stress. But at least it’s been sunny 🙃

When I look back on this year I don’t want to remember the lows. Just the glimmers.

What made you smile this month?
Let me know in comments or dms💌 I love reading those!

We’re not meant to live on yoga and stretches alone: our bodies love variety. And it’s the perfect time of year to enjoy some outdoor movement.

This summer, walking most days and running twice a week became my routine, and after just over a month the app I use reckons my heart is already 6% fitter. Small things add up.

I’m not training for a marathon. As you can see, these routes aren’t long, I walk big chunks of them, and when I do run it’s very slowly. I’ve got Reggie with me so I’m mindful of the heat — early mornings or later evenings on warm days. One day I’d love to run 5k without stopping, but there’s no pressure and no rush.

A few things that have kept me injury-free and pain-free so far: a quick mobility warm-up before, yoga stretches to cool down after, never running on a bad night’s sleep or at the end of a long working day, and making sure I eat enough and stay hydrated.

Now I’m on the hunt for some nice 5km routes around Banbury — comment or message me with your favourites please!

And if you get injured often, maybe it’s time to try some yoga and mobility with me? DM me to discuss 💌

I’m not going to sell you a miracle. I teach this for a living, so I went and read the research. Some of the big claims hold up, some really don’t — and knowing which is which tells you exactly who this practice is (and isn’t) for.

Who is Slow Down Sunday actually for? If you’re wired, training hard, watching your mobility, navigating menopause, pregnant or in the newborn fog, living with fatigue or chronic illness, or just can’t switch your brain off: this one’s for you. Restorative yoga meets you exactly where you are: supported, still, and no energy required. I run these monthly on Sunday evenings, so book ahead — otherwise, we all know, rest stays a nice idea 🌿

Next one: 19th July, 6–8pm at London Yard studio in Banbury. Book now through my profile or send it to the person that really needs it.

*also, if you want to resist the capitalism and hustle culture this one is for you✨

That’s one inspiration behind this summer. The other is less charming: care clients who didn’t prioritise movement years ago and now can’t leave their houses on their own. And the teachers and participants at a yoga retreat I went on, who take their health seriously without beating themselves up over a lazy season.

And honestly, at some point you can’t keep calling yourself an evidence based movement teacher while quietly avoiding cardio and weights yourself.
No glow up, no 30-day challenge, just figuring out where I actually have room in my week, and building some healthy habits my future self can thank me for. (Maybe I will go back to surfing when I retire, who knows)

Muddy boots, dog kisses, sourdough from the farm shop, and a body that actually gets to move the way it was meant to. ✨

If that’s your kind of Sunday, my yoga classes were made for you.

Slow, grounding movement for women in and around Banbury who are done with the hustle and ready to actually feel good in their bodies again.

No pressure. No perfection. Just you, your mat, and a whole lot of exhale.
