Monday again, how was your weekend?

On Friday we drove down to Bournemouth with a full car to move our daughter into her new uni accommodation, with IKEA being the first stop. We then had ‘fun’ getting everything into her flat (including furniture, bed frame, mattress) which would have been just about ok if the lifts were working. 7th floor and 159 stairs to get there proved a rather exhausting event 🥵.

Needless to say with the amount of times we had to go up and down those hateful stairs carrying heavy goods we all got way more than our 10,000 steps in and burnt more calories than I probably burn in a week 😂.

However, it’s worth it. She’s got a lovely flat with a pretty nice view in the distance. Student life could be worse!

Who would like baby soft feet? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I’ve got a brand in called Footlogix which is the world’s first and only ‘pediceutical’ foot care line. It’s diabetic friendly, vegan, and the ingredients reach into deeper layers of skin for transformational results.

I had a quick play with the products on my own feet and the difference is very impressive.

I need a few sets of feet to practise on at a discounted price. If you’re interested please get in touch, but I will need you to be available over the next 2 weeks only during my available working hours.

Please note, I’m not going back to pedicures! This is a foot treatment which will leave you feeling relaxed and pampered, but without the addition of nail cutting and polish application.

Sounds good? Drop me a message, but remember I only need 3 models so be quick!

Question!

Would you be interested in a new treatment at Lemon Zest Skin & Body Therapy?

I’ve been quietly pondering offering a foot treatment for a while now. Something that feels wonderful, and helps remove hard, dry skin with the use of a ‘pediceutical’ brand containing active, penetrating ingredients.

I won’t be going back to performing pedicures (ie no cuticle work, nail trimming or a pretty polish), but this would be something that aligns with my skincare as it would work in, not just on the skin, and would encourage happy, healthy feet.

How ‘bout it? Whatd’ya think? I’d appreciate a like or a comment if this is something that may interest you.

Thanks awfully!

This is your chance to save money on Heliocare face and body SPF!

The Water Gel is a light facial sunscreen. No tackiness or white residue, it glides on easily and is the perfect makeup base.

The Invisible Spray is so quick and easy to apply. The bottle also works upside down for ease of covering areas such as backs of legs.

All Heliocare products are SPF50, protecting you from UVA, UVB, blue light and infrared.

The range is huge, but these are two of my personal favourites and are vegan friendly.

This offer is running until the end of August, so save yourself £9 when you buy both together before they go back to full price!

Good, consistent skincare is so important for healthy skin.

Salon/clinic treatments support your good, consistent skincare to help gain results you’d like.

BUT! And this is a big but…if you’re relying on those two alone and not paying attention to what you fuel your body with, you’re not treating your skin with a 360 approach.

Nutrition plays a big part in gaining healthy skin. Of course we can enjoy the occasional takeaway or fast food, but if we have a low nutritional diet with the wrong fats we are not providing our skin with the best start.

Skin cells are formed various layers below the one we see. They go through changes as they push their way up and once they arrive on the outside of our bodies they need to already be healthy with a strong ‘mortar’ between them (think a brick wall) to perform their job well.

If you aren’t entirely satisfied with your skin, but you know you’re doing the right thing product wise, make a note of your food intake for a few weeks. It may be an eye opener!

Bringing this post out again.

Cleansing is the start of your routine. It shouldn’t be an afterthought, it should be considered a ritual than a chore.

You’re taking the day off your skin, providing a good base for serums and moisturisers.

When you use the right cleanser, and there’s a lot of wrong ones out there (some cheap and nasty, others just not the right fit for your skin), you are helping with skin health. Not using a good, or any cleanser, may break down your protection barrier causing problems such as irritation, dryness and even spots.

Skin care isn’t just bunging on a bit of moisturiser, it’s the whole caboodle!

If you need advice please get in touch. If you don’t know, you don’t know. That’s where I come in 😊

It surprises me how many people still ‘wash’ their faces with water. Nothing else. Just water 😩. Let’s think about this…

*Myth 1. I don’t wear make up so need to use a cleanser.
I really hope the very least you put on your skin is a daily SPF (see previous posts about this. Brief breakdown of them; at least 80% of all skin cancers, malignant or non malignant, are avoidable. That means protecting your skin from UV rays drastically reduces the risk of skin cancer) which needs to be removed. Even if you’re not applying SPF think of the pollution, sweat, oils etc sitting on your skin amongst dead skin cells that aren’t being cleansed away. Nasty.

*Myth 2. I don’t want all those chemicals on my face.
Chemistry wasn’t my top subject at school, but even I know that each molecule of water has a formula of 2 hydrogen atoms joined to a single oxygen atom making its chemical symbol H2O. Water is a chemical. Tap water contains chemicals. By all means be selective what you put on your skin, but many chemicals/chemical compounds in skincare have an important job and are not the enemy.

*Myth 3. Water is ph neutral so that’s best for my skin.
But your skin ISN’T ph neutral! The ph of skin sits between 4.7 and 5.7 making it acidic. If you’re reading this and think you’ll be better off reaching for the soap in the bathroom, don’t. Most soaps are alkaline which will strip and work against the skin, breaking down its natural barrier.

Give your skin a break. It has so many functions and is so much more complex than most people know, yet it’s quite often an afterthought.

If you’re confused about what to cleanse your skin with or you don’t know what you should be doing, I’m here to help. If we’re not told how do we know?

💥 Miracle in a bottle! 💥

Ok, that’s not the official name, but it’s what I call it 😁

Hypo21 is pure hypochlorous acid which is something our white blood cells produce as part of our immune response. Unlike other hypochlorous acid products on the market, Hypo21 contains no fragrance, additives, alcohol or anything else, making it a superior skin spray.

I use it on my skin twice a day to maintain skin health. For me personally, it also helps keep my rosacea spots at bay.

It helps calm, soothe, heal and repair making it ideal for acne, eczema, psoriasis, cuts, stings, bites, sunburn…I’ve even sprayed it into my eye when I feel a stye forming (in my own experience it has prevented the stye from getting worse), and down my throat if it’s sore!

This is always my first port of call when my body needs help with repair.

If you’d like one, or more info please get in touch!
