Grampian Pool Hire Founded on the 18th August 2018. This is a free, voluntary birth pool hire scheme.

Still here! Still hiring out pools! I'm sorry I don't use this page much other than to serve as something people can tag when they want to recommend pool hire! But pool hire & full time work keeps me super busy. In 2025 alone there were 64 hirers across 9 pools!

As of today the pools I hold are 7 x Birth Pool in a Box Minis and 2 x La Bassine pools

Thanks for keeping me busy last year, here's to a fun 2026 & hopefully... lots of homebirths! :)

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to share a brief update and express a word of thanks.

First of all many thanks to those of you who have been in touch since I took over the scheme and have had the patience to wait on replies for me - they either happen immediately or much MUCH later and I apologise for such inconsistency. The scheme is BUSY but thanks to some very generous donations since I took it on we've been able to add quite a few new additions to the fleet!

So I thought it may be of interest to those considering homebirth to know the number of pools I am currently managing;

- 5 Birth Pool In a Box Mini pools
- 1 Birth Pool In a Box Regular pool
- 2 La Bassine Regular pools

And of course 2 x CUB supports which are frequently out on hire also.

And since taking on the scheme 11 babies have been born; 6 in the pool!

Somehow despite adding numerous pools to the scheme it never seems to quite be enough! It's clear the lack of options for pool births in Aberdeen is really driving the need for more homebirths... but that means I'm lucky enough to be meeting lots of lovely people 😊

Pool hire has been super busy recently! Lots of mums getting their home births so hopefully will see some lovely birth stories soon!
Thanks to the generous donations of those hiring pools, I have recently added another BPIAB mini to the scheme. A BPIAB regular has also very kindly been donated to the scheme and will be added in the coming weeks.
I don’t expect anything for running the scheme but to receive a heartfelt card from a hirer really made my day 🥰
