A wish come true: an initiative at Ceris Newydd, Bangor💙

As part of our residents' wishes initiative, our activities coordinator has been quietly asking residents one simple question: "If you could relive one moment, what would it be?"

For Cledwyn, who spent his career in ambulance control training 🚑and mentoring crews across North Wales, the answer was easy: to see his colleagues again.

So this week, the team made it happen. His former team, the very people he once trained — surprised him with an afternoon visit to our home on the Menai Strait. There were stories, laughter, and a few happy tears before they presented Cledwyn with a model ambulance and an official 'Thank You for Your Service' coin. 🪙🌟

Reminiscence moments like these sit at the heart of our weekly lifestyle programme at our care home in Bangor because person-centred care means honouring the remarkable lives our residents have led.

Thank you for your service, Cledwyn. 💙

Turning digital connection into real-world care: Your kindness has made a beautiful difference.💙

During Dementia Action Week, our incredible community came together to support a cause that touches so many lives.

For every like received and every share made across our campaign, Fairways Care pledged £1 and £2 donations to the Alzheimer's Society . Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our families, friends, colleagues, and supporters, we are delighted to share that together we raised an amazing £441. 🎉

This campaign was about more than fundraising. Every interaction helped spark important conversations around dementia awareness, understanding, and support for those living with dementia and their loved ones.

🇩🇪 Armchair Travel Adventures Continue at Eryl Fryn Nursing Home, Llandudno 🇩🇪

This week, Eryl Fryn Nursing Home touched down in Germany for the latest stop in our Armchair Travel series.

🏛️ From discovering the history of the iconic Berlin Wall to exploring the bustling Marienplatz in Munich, residents enjoyed learning about German culture, traditions and landmarks without leaving the comfort of home.

🎵 The afternoon was brought to life with traditional German music and a fantastic performance from German girl dancers, creating a truly immersive experience that had everyone smiling, reminiscing and joining in the fun.

🥨 No armchair holiday would be complete without authentic cuisine. Residents visited our specially themed restaurant where they enjoyed a delicious meal of Jägerschnitzel, accompanied by non-alcoholic German beer, before finishing their trip with freshly baked pretzels for dessert. 🥨

At Eryl Fryn, our Armchair Travel programme is about much more than exploring new destinations. These meaningful activities support wellbeing, encourage social interaction, stimulate memories, and bring residents together through shared experiences.

A beautiful afternoon of memories and creativity at Eryl Fryn, Llandudno! 🌸🎨

Today, our residents tried out a wonderful twist on a classic favourite with a game of picture bingo. Instead of numbers, we used vintage images to spark recognition and prompt conversations. It was fantastic to watch everyone choose a random picture and share what it meant to them, bringing back so many smiles and fond memories from years gone by.

Following our game, we settled down for a calm, therapeutic painting session. Everyone picked up their brushes to paint some beautiful forget-me-not flowers. 🖌️✨

At Fairways, creating these gentle, sensory experiences is at the very heart of our person-centred care - giving our residents meaningful ways to stay connected, active, and creative every day.

Every interaction can make a difference.

💜 We will donate £1 for every LIKE
💜 We will donate £2 for every SHARE

All donations will go to Alzheimer's Society to help support people affected by dementia across the UK.

“You are the sunshine of my…”

…and our residents at Eryl Fryn certainly knew how to finish the lyrics

Dementia Action Week, Eryl Fryn in Llandudno, was filled with musical memories as residents participated in a nostalgic music quiz featuring classic hits from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. From singing along to favourite songs to sharing stories sparked by familiar tunes, the atmosphere was truly heartwarming.

The fun continued with a “Remember When?” and “Which Came First?” quiz, encouraging residents to reminisce about treasured moments from years gone by while enjoying plenty of laughter together.

To make the day even more special, our fantastic team joined in by dressing up in era-themed outfits, bringing extra smiles and energy to the activities. 🕺💃

At Eryl Fryn, meaningful activities like music therapy, reminiscence sessions, and social engagement play an important role in supporting wellbeing, connection, and person-centred dementia care.

Because sometimes, one familiar song can unlock a lifetime of memories. 💜

Every like, comment and share helps us spread awareness during Dementia Action Week, while supporting our fundraising efforts for Alzheimer's Society. 💜

What would you want people to remember about your life?

She remembers the laughter in the office. The sewing classes. Her wedding day. The holidays. The lunches out.

Meet Elizabeth
This Dementia Action Week is proud to share Elizabeth's Story from Stansty House in Wrexham, a powerful reminder that dementia never defines the whole person.

💙Early Signs of Dementia

In Liz's words, she mentions, ' The first signs I noticed were changes in my behaviour and becoming more emotional than usual. I also began to suddenly forget people’s names, which was out of character for me, as I had always been very good with names. Additionally, I started to feel disoriented; I would get lost frequently or realise I had forgotten where I was going and how I had arrived there.

💐 Her Life Story

Liz worked in the office of a timber mill, a job she truly loved. She remembers the friendships, the laughter shared with colleagues, and the moments that made life meaningful. Outside of work, Liz loved sewing, baking, swimming, holidays, and spending time with family. She married her husband on 12th September 1970 at Wem Parish Church, a memory she still holds close to her heart.

Moving into care was an emotional transition, but her story reminds us why compassion, dignity, and understanding matter so deeply in dementia care.
