It’s Sew Time

It’s Sew Time I have had a love of sewing for a very long time. This is my outlet! It started with bags but now and for rather a long time its jackets.

Denim jackets either preloved or vintage and what I can put into them. And what stories they tell me.

A little bit subtle….for me at any rate!!🤣
This is an Etam size 16 vintage jacket. Etam ceased trading in 2005. So this makes this jacket about 21 years old (😲)
This has a bit of a Prince Charming/Captain Jack vibe about it so I thought, it has pleather ties and trim, why not put a bit of vintage lace in it too? Go on then!!
This zipped 21 year old will be with me at Banwell Monthly market this Saturday 9.30 to 12.30. Why not pop along and try it on?? You’d be more than welcome. X

I said my favourite word was Serendipity didn’t I?

I bought a few fat quarters of material in Bude when we were there in March and for some reason I quite liked this clock face material called turn back time.
I then found this coral coloured jacket when my daughter and I had our little trip away to Totnes.

Then the lovely Jean Harrison said that she had this beautiful steam punk looking butterfly and of course I had to have it!!
Boom Serendipity!!!!
So I give you a steam punk inspired size M Boo Hoo jacket with lined inside pockets. Ooooohhhh!!
This will be with me at Banwell Monthly market this Saturday morning.

The last four five photos are the before!!
I’ve said before that a jacket will sort of “talk” to me and instantly I know what to do on it. Although Punk wasn’t my thing back in the day, it was the only thing that I thought about when looking at this jacket.
Millie, my daughter, found this vintage Gin Rummy jacket in Plymouth when we went together in April. I just said oh that looks ok (I wasn’t convinced !🤦🏽‍♀️) it was a brand I hadn’t heard of before. It had homemade cut outs and manufactures diamantés on it but it looked rough and unloved and I thought I could do something with it. The overwhelming thought I had was punk so here it is!!
I’ve splattered the jacket with black and white fabric paint. I’ve used purple and black tartan material that I found at the Community Scrapstore (it’s been washed and dried before use!) I’ve linked safety pins and handsewn them in from the “nose” to “ear” of the skull and used preloved lace for the skull, Oh and the zips work too! 👍🏻
Punks Not Dead. Gin Rummy Just for Girls Vintage jacket size L.
This has been reserved.

Well that was great fun. Meeting lots of holidaymakers and different makers too. Happy days! ☺️

All set up in Brean. My very first time so how’s about popping in and calming my nerves. X
