In this year's independent GP Patient Survey, Winscombe & Banwell came out above the England average on every headline measure - including 84% of you rating your overall experience as good, and 97% feeling involved in decisions about your care.
Thank you to the 123 patients who took part.
We'll keep working hard to earn it.

🌡️ A note from the practice

Due to the hot weather and local school closures, we’re operating with reduced staffing tomorrow / thursday. Our team is still here and working hard to look after our patients.

To help us prioritise those who need urgent care, we’d be really grateful if you could:

🗓️ Hold off on routine queries that can safely wait a few days — repeat prescription questions, non-urgent admin and routine appointment requests can be picked up when we’re back to full capacity.

📞 Use online services where you can — many requests can be submitted online without needing to call.

🚨 Still contact us for anything urgent — if you or a family member needs urgent care, please do get in touch as normal.

Most of all, please bear with us and be kind to the team who are in today. They’re doing their very best under the circumstances, and a little patience goes a long way. 💙

Thank you

☀️ Beat the Heat ☀️
With hot weather on the way, a few simple steps can help keep you and your loved ones safe.

🌡️ Plan ahead – Check the forecast, plan around the heat, and save activities for cooler parts of the day.

💧 Keep cool – Drink plenty of fluids, go easy on the alcohol, wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, and cool your skin with water.

🏠 Find somewhere cool – Close blinds and curtains during the day, move indoors or out depending on what feels cooler, and never sit in a parked car.

❤️ Be safe – Watch out for signs of heat-related illness, check in on elderly neighbours, relatives and anyone living alone, and take care around water.

💊 On regular medication? Water tablets (diuretics), blood pressure medicines (e.g. ramipril) and some diabetes/kidney medicines (SGLT2s like dapagliflozin) can make it harder to cope with the heat. Keep taking them as prescribed, but stay well hydrated — and if you're unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea, ask your pharmacy or the practice about "sick day rules".

📞 Feeling unwell in the heat? Call NHS 111. In an emergency, always dial 999.

Due to a nationwide technical problem, we are needing to take urgent queries only at this time and having to close our Banwell (and locking site)
We have very limited current access at Winscombe and can take some urgent queries here. Phone lines are working please only phone if your query cannot wait until later this afternoon.

EDIT - This now appears to be resolved and have resumed normal service.
